Bret Bielema (HC Illinois)

I am about to post something that may shut down this site temporarily.

Teaser: if you thought the wet t-shirt contest by Bielema on Saturday night was bad, you may want to stay tuned. Or you may want to run far, far away.

1. Where was this taken?
2. How long have you been sitting on it?

I'm confused as to how an embarassing picture of BB has remained hidden on the Internet for so long. Were there orders from Commander Alverez to BuckyNation to not release this picture until tonight?

It's a damn conspiracy!

Remember when Hawkins left for Colorado and Chris Petersen took over at Boise State. It's still Boise State, but the Broncos didn't miss a beat and Hawkins doesn't have a job right now.

I don't know why, but I keep thinking of Tom O'Brien going from BC to NC State in this situation.

Still, I don't think Bielema will be a total trainwreck, but he also won't be winning any national championships.

And Wisconsin won't roll over and die.

Some background: today was the first time I have ever seen that picture. It apparently is from earlier this year after his wedding. More information can be found on the Buckyville thread covering the picture.

I just realized that Bielema is the first Big Ten head coach to leave (not fired) for another job since maybe Nick Saban in 1999.

So it's not like there are a ton of Big Ten coaches taking off. They're either fired or stay on the job.

An Arkansauce fan that gets it:

The only reason he won 3 in a row is bacause of how far down Penn St and Ohio St had fallen. remember last year, Fickel was coaching Ohio St after they let Tressell go, and Penn St was dealing with the Sandusky stuff. This year both of those teams would have won the title. So outside of his first year, he has basically had the Big 10 title gift wrapped for him.

Seems dumb if he wants to compete for championships. He's going from the third best program in it's division, to the fifth best program in it's division. It's a new recruiting base for him too.

And he's not exactly a good recruiter either.

I saw an article posted about how this was a big win for the SEC and another pathetic showing for the B10 and I was a bit confused as to how this was such a terrible thing. It's not good, but...

Bielema is a pretty good coach, but even with the best QB/RB duo in decades for Wisconsin he still wasn't able to beat OSU or win a Rose Bowl. In fact he's 2-5 (or 2-6) in bowl games and hasn't beaten a big OOC opponent that I can think of. Again, it's a decent hire, but this isn't some slam dunk steal. Bielema wanted more cash and took a lateral move to get it. Wisconsin might very well be better off with their replacement after a couple of years.

He's the SEC's problem now anyway. Hope they enjoy his douchebaggery.

I'm actually sad. I'm going to miss this guy in Wisconsin. Hopefully they replace him with someone just as easy to dislike.

I'm going to predict that Wisconsin takes a hit here. I'm also going to predict that he gets fired from Arkansas in a few years. Then maybe he'll come back! Then all will be right in the world.

I would ask Arkansas WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK ARE YOU THINKING?!?! But then I realized it's Arkansas and this is just what they do.

Yes, those same writers didn't harp on the fact an SEC school lost their coach to Southern Cal or Florida's coach is now the Ohio State coach.

If/When Bielema leaves Arkansas, he may be damaged goods similar to a Houston Nutt, Dan Hawkins or Derek Dooley.

At the least, Rich Rodriguez innovated offense while at Clemson or West Virginia, thus he could get another job.

Bielema didn't really innovate anything.
