wouldn't say that... remember the "Right Reverend" Houston Nutt won that division...

Not with the quality of teams and coaches in the division right now. They will be battling to be better than Mississippi State and Ole Miss is on the rise...forget about Alabama, LSU, and A&M right now. And Auburn won a title just 2 years ago, though they might be bottom-feeders for a while now I guess.

Some names being thrown around:
Chryst
Hazell
Darrell Bevell
Alvarez??

It was interesting in the B1G title game, they showed Alvarez walking down towards the end of the game and one of the announcers said he had asked him about coaching again, and "he walked away with a twinkle in his eye". One wonders if he knew something was up, and if so...if he is contemplating coming back.

Wow. This throws everything into flux. Recruiting, the Rose Bowl, everything. Fucking A.

Just read on ESPiN (I know) that he would still like to coach the Badgers in the Rose Bowl.....

In the most stunning coaching move of the silly season, Arkansas has hired Wisconsin's Bret Bielema as its next head coach, sources tell ESPN.

Colleague Mark Schlabach reports that Bielema still wants to coach the Badgers in their upcoming Rose Bowl appearance against Stanford. Wisconsin won its third consecutive Big Ten championship on Saturday night and will play in Pasadena for the third straight season.

Bielema is 68-24 in seven seasons at Wisconsin. He was Barry Alvarez's hand-picked successor. Alvarez now serves as the Badgers' athletic director.

Alvarez = B1G's Bill Synder?

Good job of reading the thread.

I think Saban is the only guy I can think of that left the B1G and went on to success in the SEC. I think this sentiment is coming from the fact that there have been a number of guys with B1G ties end up successful in the SEC like Meyer, Miles, and Saban.

I think he was just too stupid to understand the Bob Stoops method of getting raises and extensions. Your just supposed to have your agent float your name out there for openings not actually accept them.

It was obvious to Bielema that he could never get out of Alvarez shadow. He just couldn't measure up, one was a Rose Bowl winner while the other was a loser.

Bert is smarter than I gave him credit for.

He just cashed in his "3x champs" fools gold before he stuck around the B1G too long and had a scUM program with a competent coach and a sanction-less Meyer led OSU show the world just how mediocre to bad he really is.
