MADISON, Wisc. -- I sat down with Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema today, and I thought it would be remiss not to ask him about his February spat with Ohio State coach Urban Meyer.

You don't need me to rehash all the details, but if you need a refresher course, you can get the background here and here. So I asked Bielema if he still had a problem with Meyer. He said everything has been put to rest.

"The problem I had with him, I just called him and he took care of it," Bielema said. "If you can do that professionally in our business, that's saying a lot. The timing of it not was good, with the way it all came out. I don't personally have anything [against him], and I hope he doesn't as well."

Bielema said the first time he met Meyer was last year when Meyer came to Madison with an ESPN TV crew and that he liked him.

I asked if he knew how much the flap would be brought up by the media when Ohio State plays at Wisconsin on Nov. 17.

"Oh yeah, absolutely," Bielema said. "But I think it's more about the fact that we've won two championships. They're used to being there. ... I like being everybody's rival. We take pride in it, and that's a good thing."

Bret seems incapable of holding an interview without saying something douchey, but I'm giving him a pass here. Obviously there's "rivals" and then there's the mindset that everyone is your rival.

The unbolded segment shouldn't be ignored either.
