Bret Bielema (HC Illinois)

In the song, there is a line "There's a bad moon on the rise" that kinda sounds like "There's a bathroom on the right". Kinda like Hendrix and " 'Suse me while I kiss this guy" instead of 'Scuse me while I kiss the sky.

I understand that. But the very first line of the song is "I see a bad moon rising". I guess I don't understand how knowing its about a 'bad moon', leads someone to hear 'bathroom'. LOL

Or maybe they heard "I see a bathroom rising"?

Seem to remember a --less than radio friendly--Butthole Surfers version of this. Can't even find it on the internets.

Sure you aren't thinking of the version by the Beat Farmers?

"You booger eatin' fat pig, you picked a @*!#!% fine time to leave me. Four ugly children and a crotch that won't heal!"

RIP Country Dick you magnificent bastard.

(There's a good chance I was at the show linked above. I was a big Beat Farmers fan and was at the Belly Up a lot during that stretch of time)

I love Fogarty and Credence Clearwater, but his cajun accent often left the lyrics up for grab. "There's a bathroom on the right," was my take until I got the album and saw the song's title. Big wheel keep on toinin, Proud Mary keep on boinin...

True dat, but as he has stated in several interviews, he and CCR developed a cajun accent as a part of their musical shtick because they liked the flavor it gave to many of their songs - Bad Moon Rising and Proud Mary among them.

as a guy who has heard a few Cajun accents, let me clearly state that what Fogerty has sounds nothing like an actual Cajun accent.

if I remember reading right, he enjoyed the Shreveport area and event sang about Texarkana.

that is geographically as far away from the Acadiana (Cajun) part of the state as is possible without being in Arkansas.

roughly the same distance from Cajun Country as Columbus, OH is from Tennessee.
