Breakout Buckeyes Betting: 2007

It seems that letting people put their vMoney where there vMouth is killed the conversation...

I can see there being half-a-dozen pay-outs from this bet. Many of the best athletes on this team are relative unknowns.

Malcolm Jenkins' vote is for Anderson Russell.

LINK

"Well, y'all kind of saw Anderson last year, but he is going to have a huge season," he said. "Anderson will be one of the impact players this year."

It's hard not to appreciate Ohio State's Sports Medicine personnel after reading that...

Anderson Russell had trouble pointing out the holes Dr. Chris Kaeding made to fix his knee

It's truly great to see that they're taking such good care of the Buckeyes.

Hate to ask a stupid question about the betting, but is this making 1st or 2nd team?

Per the first post of the thread, those who must make All American to be break-out players can do so as either a first or second team pick. Those who need only be All Big 10 to be considered break-out players must be concensus All Big 10, which will be taken to mean that nearly everyone out there has them as a First Team pick.

I will not settle this until the All-American teams are announced, but as the Big 10 teams have been posted it is worth discussing who qualified by that criterion.

Although none of our concensus All-Big-10 picks were surprises; I would be willing to concede that Todd Boeckman was in fact a "breakout" player this year.

I don't see any other "breakout" players on the list at this point.

Thoughts?

If we pay out on TB only, then TallIndian, Big Papa, OSUsushichic, buck1973 and RoscoeParrish are winners.

He may not have met the thread's definition of having a "breakout year"; but I'd like to mention a true freshman that had a lot better season than most fans expected him to have. He was a very soild player in all twelve games.

Cameron Heyward

The definition of a "Break-out season" was concensus all-big-10 for Robo and most others.

I'm willing to give it up for TB, because he was All-Big-10 on the media list. The coaches had Henne, and that is a mother fucking joke.

Robo was not on the first or second team for either the coaches or the writers. Most of the people down here in the south have absolutely no idea who he is. They know who Boeckman is though.

Heyward is an interesting story though. I didn't have a category for "freshman breakout" but he definitely fits that description.

I believe All-Americans have been released, correct? Thanks.

Not all of them, but with the Walter Camp list out, we have enough that I believe we can make the call here...

Unless there are objections within the next 20 hours or so (5 PM tomorrow), I will settle this for Todd Boeckman, and only for Todd Boeckman. If you bet on someone else and believe that they should be considered, feel free to make your case.

Kirk Barton was 1st team AFCA All-American. I would pay out on him, also, since the description on "unexpected All-American" in your first post said:

but finishes the season as a First or Second String All-American
and it doesn't use the word consensus.

And I don't have any money on him. :wink2:
