I like both QB's but with our success since 05-06 with mobile QB's i will stick with Harris as the QB I would like to see us get

Auburn and Mississippi state offered Brandon Harris, also picked up #Buckeye offer today.

Good athlete but I just don't see anything spectacular about Harris. While he is creative and throws the ball with some nice touch and makes some intermediate throws, his arm strength is average at best. Whenever he throws the long ball, the ball flutters and when he throws to the far side of the field on digs or deep outs, the ball takes a long time to get there and that won't fly at the next level. Some of it is mechanical but even when he steps into his throw, the deficiency is still there. Conversely, Barker gets those throws out there in a hurry and I really don't think UFM needs an "elusive" type of QB...frankly I think Barker is a better runner than Watson, but Watson is just a better passer and has more tangibles. Tebow wasn't an out of the world athlete (I think Barker is comparable in that regard) but he thrived in UFM's offense.

That being said, I think Harris will find some level of success somewhere because one, he is a great athlete and two, he can be successful if the OC works with his strengths and avoids putting him in situations where his weaknesses will get him in trouble. I want to qualify all of this by saying I do think he is a good prospect but I still have Barker and Kyle Allen ahead of him (as do all the scouts I know of for what it is worth).

Must be an in-person assessment because on film, that ball isn't getting there quickly on the tougher throws...just objectively observing his deep outs and throws across the field. And obviously the staff has liked what they have seen in person too. I haven't seen him in person obviously or any film from combines/camps, so I'm just basing this on his film in this thread. And who knows, perhaps he has improved his arm strength since that film.

I'm not a scout or anything, but I just rewatched his video in this thread and I don't see what you are saying at all. Not seeing any throws at all where the ball "flutters" as you say. And not really seeing any where it takes forever to get there when he is trying to put some heat on it (there are a few where he looks to be purposely laying it out there for guys to run under).

Louisiana has garnered the reputation of producing some of the nation's best football talent. Every year, the NFL Draft and National Signing Day are littered with Louisiana prospects, but rarely do you see highly rated quarterbacks ? until now that is.

Parkway quarterback Brandon Harris has seen his stock soar this spring with overtures from many programs including Alabama, Ohio State and Texas A&M. After Wednesday, you can add LSU to the list of schools pursuing the 6-foot-3, 193-pound gunslinger.

"I have a lot of offers, but now I got one from the big in-state school," Harris said about receiving his LSU offer. "It was a little frustrating to not have it at one point to be honest. Now I have it and it feels good. In the end, Coach Cameron knows what he wants in a QB and he felt comfortable with offering me a scholarship to play quarterback at LSU."

With a list of possible suitors that includes LSU, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas A&M, Auburn and Ole Miss among many others, how does LSU fit in at this point?

"I don't think any offers are bigger than the SEC or Ohio State or any of these other schools," Harris said when asked about how the LSU offer compares. "Anytime you get an opportunity to play in the SEC, you have to take advantage of it. Before I got the (LSU) offer, I couldn't really evaluate myself with them. I was looking at how I fit in at these other schools that offered me. Now that I have the offer, I know I have to work on that with LSU."

Parkway High School quarterback Brandon Harris took the first step toward making a college decision late Thursday night when he announced the seven schools he plans to visit this summer.

Harris, via Twitter, said: "After evaluating every great school that has recruited me, my family and I feel that these are the schools we will visit this summer. Auburn, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Alabama, Baylor, Ohio State and LSU. Thanks for everyone's support thoughout the most difficult process of my young life.''

Harris (6-2, 185) is generally considered to be the state's top quarterback prospect. He is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and a four-star prospect by 247sports.com.

He has more than a dozen college scholarship offers and picked up an official offer from LSU last week.

Among the school's with coaches at Parkway's spring game on Thursday night were Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn and LSU.

Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 5/22 - Brandon Harris sets OSU visit, two new offers

Ohio State is still in the process of adding a quarterback to join the talented 2014 recruiting class. After going all-in for Deshaun Watson, the staff has now put out some offers and shown interest to a few prospects to potentially fill that spot. On Tuesday, we got some new information regarding the position.

Perhaps the biggest news came last night when '14 QB Brandon Harris set an unofficial visit to Columbus for May 30th. This will be a huge opportunity for the staff to impress Harris as LSU and Texas A&M seem to be in good position to land the Parkway High School (LA) signal-caller:

When I first watched his highlight (before he started receiving all these offers) I wasn't impressed. I'm certainly not a recruiting expert, but what is it about his highlights that make him such a coveted recruit? I would honestly like to know, because it seems now the reason people want him is because of all the recent offers from the big dogs, not necessarily because of his highlights. What am I missing here?

Maybe the group of big dogs that are giving him offers have better skills and expertise in evaluating a recruit then us posters. I mean these big dogs are big dogs for a reason and have millions of dollars at stake to get this right, especially at a postion as critical as QB.

Beyond just our staff and other staffs being impressed...didn't QB coach/consultant Whitfield also make glowing remarks about his potential.

I agree, but would still like for some analysis from someone who has the expertise to evaluate him. Usually when you watch the tape of arguably the best dual threat qb in the nation you see some explosiveness, multiple big plays, and big play ability. Which I personally didn't see. I fully trust our coaches, so I guess ill take this one on blind faith.

zebiraross - I am not saying you are wrong, highly skilled people miss on recruits all the time. If I recall correctly RBOSU7 shares your opinion, he just doesn't see it and really like Barker and Allen a whole lot better. RB- If that is not the case my bad on the callout.

Frohlich is right. One of the highly sought after QB consultants was impressed with Harris.

Perhaps his tape does not match what these experts see live. Perhaps his team is not up to par with other teams. Perhabs the system he is in does not utilize his talents like he is able to show in camps.. Who knows.

I don't disagree with your assement, based on film I have seen I am not sure he would be in my top 10. Might explain why I am typing about recruits and not getting paid to do actually recruit them
