Brady "XLLL" Hoke (Head Coach San Diego State)

JT had to say it then after 2-9, Hoke has to say something also. It does not matter what he says, as long as he states MI at least wants to beat TSIO:biggrin:

It's the process of getting the players and fans to believe again.
Right now no one in MI believes we can beat TSIO.
Agree. The biggest move he can make is to rally the alumni base and admit the fact the "The Game" is a huge f***in deal. DickRod did't get that and that is part of why he failed to connect to the alumni.

RichRod was also douche. that always plays in the formula.

Hoke said today that "Our lifeblood has to be in the Midwest and it has to be in Michigan," when it comes to recruiting. That is so refreshing to hear.

Also heard when he accepted the job, Dave Brandon said you still haven't heard how much I'm going to pay you, Hoke said "I don't care."

He is also a defensive minded coach and preaches toughness. I love to hear this.

Just saw the highlights where he cried. Cried because he loves the Michigan family and loves this place so much. I don't know how Hoke is going to do, but I'm behind this man and will support him after the shit RR did to Michigan.

Go Blue!

Kind of hard to "get it" when you don't have a QB - 08, and don't have a defense - 09 -10. The team Tressel took to Ann Arbor was the nucleus of the team that would soon win a National Championship and included a QB who understood "Tressel Ball." Hoke get's the advantage of being at home, but he inherits a team better suited for the 4 by 100 relay than a game of football.

Or adjust your scheme to fit the talents of a future top-10 pick (a potential that was obvious from 06 on with him) at QB.

Didn't have a defense? Please. He had plenty of quality defenders, Brandon Graham, Donovan Warren, Stevie Brown, Mike Martin, Terrance Taylor. Jonas Mouton was an all-world recruit with plenty of athleticism. Van Bergen was a solid SDE candidate. Heck, even Morgan Trent represents a significant upgrade over the DBs RR has trotted out there.

He was hell-bent on running the 3-3-5 even though it shifted the defense from its original strength (DL) when he took over to its overwhelming weakness (DB).

He hired Shafer but didn't let him do his job, letting his WVU cronies hold secret meetings behind Shafer's back and committing mutiny before Purdue, forcing the 3-3-5 onto the defense, only to watch a backup running back look like Vince Young for Purdue in 08. Shafer went on to Syracuse, where he turned in arguably the greatest defensive coaching performance of the year in 2010, without 5% of the natural talent RR has on roster.

There were plenty of excuses for having down seasons. There are not enough excuses for having losing records against bad Illinois & Purdue teams, let alone the abominations against Toledo and complete ineptitude against any b10 team with a pulse.

They played like Bowling Green with Penn State level talent. It might not have been OSU/old-UM level talent, but it was still far more than most of the squads on their roster, particularly when 9 out of 12 teams in the b10 do not land many top recruits.

MI has some beef, I am hoping Hoke turns Will Campbell around and plays him on defense.

Also I want to see the defense play under a different coach, I have a feeling we are going to see where the major problem was last year.

Michigan hires Brady Hoke: Former Wolverine and Cleveland Browns tight end Aaron Shea loves his school's new coach

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Brady Hoke pounded his finger on the podium while saying that the Ohio State-Michigan game was the most important game on the schedule and called the rivalry "personal."
The new Michigan coach, who spent his childhood in the Dayton area, said he respected Woody Hayes as a kid, but he grew up as a Michigan fan because all his friends liked Ohio State.
At his introductory news conference today, Hoke said he would have walked to Michigan from San Diego to accept the job, and athletic director David Brandon said Hoke took the job without money ever being discussed.
In a room filled with former Michigan players, Hoke won the day with talk of tradition that was just what a lot of Wolverines needed to hear.
Among them were former Michigan and Browns tight end Aaron Shea, who played at Michigan during the eight-year era in which Hoke was serving as the Wolverines' defensive line coach. Shea lives in Westlake and works for the Browns, and the last few years haven't been easy for Michigan fans in Ohio.
"Living in Cleveland, I've had it," Shea said. "I told my wife, we have to get (the coaching hire) right this time, or we're going somewhere else."
Shea said his children don't want to wear Michigan clothes to school because they're teased by older kids. He said he hadn't been wearing his Michigan national championship ring lately, but he decided to bring it out this year.
Now, with the hiring of the candidate he backed all along, "I'm keeping it out for a while, just to remind them. Coach Hoke is going to bring us back to this level," Shea said.
"I always wear Michigan stuff with pride," Shea said, "but when I was first drafted in Cleveland in 2000, I'd walk by a person and their head would go down, and that meant they went to Ohio State.
"There are more Michigan people in Cleveland than I thought when I went there, but I don't know where they've been. They're hibernating right now. ... The pride never went anywhere, but I think some people may have forgot about it. But Michigan football will be back. I'm just looking forward to getting back to Michigan football."
Shea said he heard the same thing from a friend last week, when he talked with a former teammate - New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
"I know how much Tom Brady loves Brady Hoke, and when I talked to him last week, he said we need to get this guy," said Shea, who said Brady then asked for the cell phone number of Brandon.
"So people sometimes say, 'We don't see Tommy around.' Let me tell you, make no mistake, Tom Brady loves Michigan. And you'll be hearing Tommy talk Michigan a lot more."

Great. They're already starting to be "proud" again. JT, you know what to do:

OK, Ohio State is playing at scUM in 1 1/2 hours. Anyone think Hoke will be introduced at the game and give a "Tressel like" speach?

The one thing I thought was interesting, and didn't know was concerning the paralells between the hiring of Jim Tressel and Brady Hoke.

In fact, I never really knew what was surrounding Tress until today (always wondered, though).

First, OSU went after Jon Gruden.

That didn't pan out, so we tried to go after the west coast star - Mike Belotti from Oregon. Then it was between Glen Mason and Tressel, who was the favorite by our AD, which seemed like a bad pick in some camps.

It'd seem that Brady got picked out of a similar group - there were two people that looked better (Harbaugh and Miles).

Only time will tell if the similarities end, but I think that Hoke will at least give OSU a better run for their money - even if it is Cooper-esque. I doubt he will turn them into a perennial dynasty like OSU, but I think he'll be able to get them to some top-tier bowl games - something RichRod may of never been able to do.
