Brady "XLLL" Hoke (Head Coach San Diego State)

I think it makes his clownish behavior all the more ridiculous. Why have such hatred toward your hometown team and lamely try to pass yourself off as a "Michigan Man" when you didn't play there or even attend school there? I had thought that designation meant more than the watered-down definition that would necessary apply for Hoke to qualify.
There isn't a rule that says you have to like your hometown team. Maybe he's a fan of The Flyers, since he's from Dayton.

I wonder how you can support Tress since he didn't attend, nor play for, osu. How can he pass himself off as a "true buckeye?"

Nope there isn't a rule. As long as you stick with that team, follow that team and it's history, and love/support that team no matter what their record is. That is good enough for me.

Michigan Man= Understanding what the Wolverine football team is all about, understand it's history, and can achieve excellence on and off the field. Good role model on and off the field.

That's what is means to me. You don't have to be from Michigan to understand it.

Because anyone born in Ohio is a true Buckeye from birth unless they choose to be a douchebag and root for tsun. This fact makes stupid fucks like Hoke even more pathetic and loathsome.

so what about people born in michigan that root for osu, like krenzell?

I accept him (and other players like Justin Boren) into the Buckeye family, but I wouldn't try to defend him for a second to a Michigan fan who felt betrayed and full of hate for him. Players from Michigan that come to Ohio State are a rarity that can be a pleasant surprise from time to time. Without Ohio players, Michigan would be a joke, and that is a fact.

Also, the fact that Michigan State splits allegiance in Michigan makes loyalty in the state a completely different ball game. In Ohio, you either love Ohio State, or you like someone else in order to be different and get attention due to some sort of personal deficiency.

There are some exceptions, but for the most part, that is the way it is.

People fleeing oppression/dictatorships/communism and general evil are defectors.

Rat fuck bastards who sold out to the Russians are worthless traitors who are due the death penalty by law.

Pretty easy concept really.

Fan-dom isn't the issue here. Unless, like I said, the "Michigan Man" definition is way more watered down than I thought it was. Under your definition, any clown who wakes up some morning and decides he is a fan of UM is a Michigan Man.

You really can't see the difference between Tressel (who has been the head coach at OSU for 10 years now and who has said he has no interest in NFL jobs due to his allegiance at OSU) and Hoke?

JT was born in Ohio and I am sure he was an assistant coach at Ohio State before Youngstown State.

JT also had quite a history of winning a lot of football games and Championships at Youngstown State. He has continued that trend at tOSU. I dont see anything about him and Hoke that remind me of each other. That is not saying that Hoke will not be successful. Ohio is the cradle of coaches when it comes to football.

The above poster is correct. Ohio is one of those rare states that you are either the hometown school....tOSU fan or a fan of some other random school....i.e....n.d....michigan....etc. Go Bucks

the whole "Michigan Man" was created out of the Bo mold anyway. So by definition, I guess a "Michigan Man" does have to be from Ohio..... but arguing over something as trivial as a made up definition is retarded anyway.

ten years ago I could. If they were both starting today with their respective backgrounds, then yes, they would be very comparable. (that's in regards to background, not coaching records. Obviously Tress had a more successful background in W/L than Hoke does.) I'll address the other comparison in 10 years, because I don't have a crystal ball.
