Northwestern up next in a non-conference game!?!?!?

awful, aint it? ..we played Illinois in a non league game down there a couple years ago.

On a brighter note, our RPI is up to 67! The B10 "anchor effect" wont be as bad this year with all the improved RPI's throughout the league. Unlike at this point last year, the b10 has several teams inside the rpi top 150. Luckily NW is not on the slate this year, because their RPI is crap.

We need for teams like Purdue, Minny, and scUm to continue to do well so they will have their max RPI by the time we play them..also keep an eye on future opponents like Miam, akron, ball st, and UNF. We need them to play well for some added rpi help... of course, all this is moot if we cant beat any of these teams:(

Also, i think todays Yale game may give us a taste of what our mid week pitching may be like. We need a youngster or two to step up and give us some solid midweek starts..Fausnaugh is an option, but he is MIA of late.

cheers

I agree. The Big Ten RPI is surprisingly strong this year. That bodes well for us this year.

The conference RPI has fallen over the past few weeks but it is still better than usual. Incredibly Minnesota has the 4th best RPI in the country right now so our series against them in May could be key for positioning ourselves for a possible at-large Bid. Unfortunately for us it is a road series. Current Big Ten RPI rankings through March 21st:

004 Minnesota (10-5)
043 Michigan (6-6)
068 Ohio St. (11-3)
079 Purdue (7-7)
115 Michigan St. (6-8)
120 Indiana (8-8)
141 Iowa (5-5)
183 Penn St. (2-12)
194 Illinois (5-8)
261 Northwestern (3-10)

And yes, not having to play an entire series against Northwestern is a blessing.
