  • The Baseball Bucks travel to Bradenton, Florida for their Spring Break games vs Bucknell, Jacksonville State, Dartmouth, Yale, Northwestern and Harvard. They will play 7 games in 7 days.

    The Ohio State baseball team will play seven games in seven days on its spring trip, beginning Saturday vs. Bucknell at 7 p.m. The Buckeyes will play a split doubleheader with Jacksonville State and Dartmouth Sunday at noon and 5 p.m., respectively. Ohio State will play Yale at 3 p.m. Monday before taking Tuesday off. The Buckeyes and Bulldogs will again play Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. The Scarlet and Gray will play a non-conference game vs. Northwestern Thursday at 1:30 p.m. before closing the trip Friday vs. Harvard at 11:30 a.m. The first three games of the trip will be played at Manatee Community College and the final four games will be played at IMG Academy. Tickets are available at the gate only.

    Bucknell Bison Preview

    The Bisons dropped to 3-6 on the year after falling to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels 5-4. The Bisons started the year 0-4 after having lost three games to ACC power Virginia. The have also lost to VMI, and split double-headers against Cornell. Bucknell has had some bad luck weather-wise with 6 games cancelled against VMI and Niagra.

    The Buckeyes game with Bucknell is scheduled for 7:00PM March 17th.


    Jacksonville State Gamecocks Preview

    The Gamecocks are currently 6-8 on the year. They took 2 of 3 from Middle Tennessee State and were swept by Texas A&M. JSU plays Kennesaw State tonight and has a Wednesday game against Alabama State before heading to Bradenton.

    OSU will take on the Gamecocks at Noon on March 18th.


    Dartmouth Big Green Preview

    Dartmouth is 1-2 on the year, losing two and taking 1 of the 3 games with the University of Cincinnati. The Big Green had 3 players from last year's squad selected in the MLB draft. Besides Ohio State, Dartmouth also has contests slated against Illinois and Northwestern.

    Ohio State and Dartmouth play at 5:00PM on March 18th.


    Yale Bulldogs Preview

    The Bulldogs sit at 3-3 on the year after taking 2 of 3 from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and losing 2 of 3 to Richmond University. Yale's starting rotation is anchored by pro prospects Chris Wietlispach and Steve Gilman.

    The Buckeyes and Yale hook up for two games, the first on March 19th at 3:00PM and the second March 21st at 10:30AM.


    Northwestern Wildcats Preview

    The Buckeyes take on Northwestern in a game that will not count in the Big 10 Conference standings. The Wildcats stand at 2-7 on the year with their victories over Texas Tech and Creighton.

    OSU play their Big 10 foes, the Northwestern Wildcats at 1:30PM on March 22nd.


    Harvard Crimson Preview

    The Crimson are 2-2 on the year with victories over Notre Dame and Quinnipiac and losses to the University of Tampa and Duquense. The Buckeyes' game against Duquense was rained out in Clearwater last weekend.

    OSU and Harvard play at 11:30AM on March 23rd. This will wrap up the Florida portion of the Buckeyes schedule. They head home to take on The University of Toledo Rockets at Bill Davis Stadium at 2:00PM on March 28th.

    No shit, throw out JSU and that group is mentally challenging. :biggrin: Princeton played down here in 01 I think. I remember looking at their roster and it was incredible how many states were represented. I think they even had a guy from Alaska.

    Ohio State downs Bucknell, 9-5, to open spring break trip

    Buckeyes win their sixth straight game, improve to 7-3

    BRADENTON, Fla. - The Ohio State baseball team opened up its seven-game spring break trip with a 9-5 win over Bucknell Saturday at Manatee Community College in Bradenton, Fla. The win was the sixth straight for the Buckeyes as they improved to 7-3 on the year.
    The top four hitters in the OSU lineup accounted for 10 hits and six RBI, and Josh Barrera (So., Somerset, Ohio/Sheridan) went four innings in middle relief to earn his first win of the year.
    Senior Jacob Howell (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) and junior Matt Angle (Whitehall, Ohio/Whitehall-Yearling) led the Buckeyes at the plate. Howell was 4-for-5 with two RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base, while Angle went 3-for-5 with one RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases. Junior catcher Eric Fryer (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) chipped in by going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

    BRADENTON, Fla. - Ohio State pitcher Corey Luebke pitched solidly into the eighth inning as the OSU baseball team downed Jacksonville State, 8-3, Sunday at Manatee Community College in Bradenton, Fla. The win was the seventh straight for the Buckeyes as they improved to 8-3 on the year.
