BP Poll Week 2 (Long Overdue)

Hers' how I voted. I did not drop us at all, and I'm stunned that the overall BP poll has us at 8th.

Mili...I think everyone was trying to be to unbiased...if thats possible...

I don't know how anybody thought Pitt was rank worthy. Syracuse, BYU, Stanford?

bn27....apparently most of the voters in college football because they were ranked in the top 25 when ND beat them on the road, now hindsight is 20/20 and thats why I vote them where I think they should be right now, not where I think they will be at the end of the year. ND will lose 2-4 games most likely, but right now they deserve to be ranked anywhere from 10-15 in my opinion......hell they beat the #3 team on the road......

Its funny that you just mention Syracuse, BYU and Stanford, but don't mention Purdue (12)...USC (1)...Tennessee (5)..

I am not a ND fan but hell give them some respect for beating two ranked teams at the time they played them.

Actually, we can vote however we want. Not meaning to be a dick, and theres nothing wrong with how you vote....but its different from how I vote.

It's OK...you can be a dick if you want :biggrin:

Seriously though, yes, I didn't mean people can't vote how they want, or I wasn't trying to tell people how to vote. And I wasn't singling you out at all...I was just responding to the myriad of people who said "How can you vote that high for Notre Dame" and "Do you really think they'll finish 10th?" and all that...I was just saying there's more to it than that, at least in my opinion.

As long as people are using some type of thought process, I think everyone's voting strategy is all good.

My point is that fans are so critical of the AP and coaches polls, yet fan poll after fan poll seems to have most teams (especially top 20 teams) within a spot of the much-maligned traditional polls.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

I see your point...personally I am only critical of the BCS system.

The fact that the fan poll is similiar to the actual poll does not mean that it is inaccurate at all. Its a fan poll, most fans are pretty biased.

Your point being?
point being, that since we only visit there every other year, 'a while' is a relative term... it's of like saying we haven't won at Illinois in a while... in terms of actual years, yes, that would be accurate. but since we actually WON the last trip there, it is in fact, a deceptive statement...

i know we lost in '03... but in '01, the score was 20-0 at halftime... to me, that is the textbook definition of dominating them... that was two trips ago... from a strictly choinological sense, it's accurate. we haven't won there in 4 years... but we only had two tries... so 'a while' is a deceptive description...

does that make sense?

bn27....apparently most of the voters in college football because they were ranked in the top 25 when ND beat them on the road
I said how, not who. I know the dumbass voters picked them top25, I said all along they were overrated at 25.

Its funny that you just mention Syracuse, BYU and Stanford, but don't mention Purdue (12)...USC (1)...Tennessee (5)..
I have gone over the ND schedule so many times, I left them out so another discussion didn't break out. Purdue is overrated, obviously Mich, USC, and Tenn are tough games. I think MSU is their 4th toughest. Everything past purdue is a cakewalk. Just like every other team that DOESN'T cry about their schedule, ND plays some hard games and some easy ones.

Mich = Mich
Texas = USC
Iowa = Tenn
MSU = MSU

It's not that much more difficult than ours.

I am not a ND fan but hell give them some respect for beating two ranked teams at the time they played them.
I gave them the respect they deserve....what they don't deserve is that little add on "at thetime they played them". They jumped from 44 to 20 in one poll for beating an 0-2 team that lost to Ohio.

As was I. Can anyone seriously say that LSU, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida are better than us just because we lost a heartbreaker to the #2 team? If Craig James can keep us at #3, then I see no reason why any unbiased Buckeye fan could, too.
