BP Modifications/Updates/Improvements Tracker

I haven't been around the board much since I retired for the second time. I'm still a bit in the dark about the rep system even after reading about it here in this thread. I know, I know, I'm thick. I'm maxed out on the greenies and have about 40K points but the statement for the rep is something related to being on the scout team. Wasn't that something that initally started out for someone relatively new to the board? I'm guessing that this is still a work in progress?

As if the dead silence weren't enough of an indication, I'm just marking this thread with notice that any/all improvements to the vB code is on hold until the new server is in place.
I see Clarity posted this in May.

Is the new server in place now? I only ask because as much as I enjoy the site, it's the slowest message board I visit, by far.

Is there any hope for improvement in the speed department?

New server is in place physically, but the migration/conversion hasn't happened yet.

Clarity was considering doing this in stages as his time permits. The newest "gold" version of the software hasn't shipped yet either, so he would in effect be doing the conversion twice. Everyone told him to wait and take care of it all at once.

Speed WILL increase once the migration/conversion takes place. I haven't talked to Clarity in a week or so, but I believe the new server will be running the site by football season. That is the goal/hope anyway. Only a finalized release of the latest vBulletin software stands in our way.

does having additional emoticons slow down BP at all?
Any way to add the "beating a dead horse" emoticon that they have at Bucknuts to our list of emoticons?
I propose this:

Looks good to me.

Maybe some can be replaced with this.

Here's some I don't see used often:

:susp: :lift: :moo: :hour: :bones: :nerd: :atom:

We also have two sleepy emoticons :sleep1: :sleep2:

No way can we do away with the :nerd: emoticon. With the way computerbuck used to use it for his "the sky is falling" posts concerning recruits, :nerd: has now come to represent a sarcastic reply to someone's pessimistic recruiting post without even having to type a single word. Hell, I think we should change the name of :nerd: from "nerd" to "computerbuck", just as the :tibor: emoticon is now named "tibor"...
