BP Fantasy Baseball (2008-2024, Current Champion = MD Buckeye again)

You don't really want to keep Morales do you @Jake?

Seriously though, I am need of a good outfielder, preferably a RF, and am willing to give up a closer for one if anyone is interested...

I think it'd be funny if the league transaction [Zeke] showed rejected offers. @Ahiacitian and I would be adding to that list.

"Reject trade"

"Reject trade"

Still no deals yet.

One of a likely ton of noob questions this season...

Do people bench starting pitchers (not the studs, obviously) in bad matchups if reaching 35 innings doesn't seem to be an issue? OR do you still pitch them and risk raising ERA to acquire extra strikeouts?

It seems like that would be a strategy but would also depend on where you currently stand pitching-wise vs the opponent.

That's a very good question. The answer varies depending on your confidence in the pitcher and your risk tolerance.

There are a couple different factors here and you alluded to both of them. IMO, Jon Gray is a good up and coming SP that if he pitched for almost any other team than the Rockies would have been drafted much higher. I am basically planning on pitching him only during his road starts and hope Coors Field doesn't crush his pitching sole like it has for basically every other Colorado starter over the years. So I think you can afford to play the matchups on some borderline guys OR if you are massively ahead in your matchup that week.

However, if you are getting your ass handed to you in your matchup, you basically throw the entire kitchen sink and hope that you get some good/lucky/prayer performances to steal a category or two and at least make the final score at the end of the week more respectful. Since this isn't rotisserie scoring, you got nothing to lose if you are behind because that shite performance will be wiped come Monday morning and you start anew against a different opponent!

We finally have a trade. I'm surprised there haven't been more.

Not crazy about trading for someone just picked up off the scrap heap but I wanted the pitcher swap. No idea why I even drafted Greinke after what he did to me last year. Watch the bastard regain his 2015 form now.

N00B time...can we manage the team during the game week, or is it set and lock until the next game week?

You can change your players in and out on a daily basis right up to the first pitch of each player's game. Once their game starts, the player is locked either in the lineup or on the bench. On gameday, if your player has a green circle with a check mark beside them, then they are starting that game. I believe a red X means the player is out of the lineup that day. Additionally, Yahoo will list probable starting pitchers 4 or 5 days out, so you can go many days in the future to swap your starting pitching based on these green circles with checks by their names.

I encourage "noobs" to ask every question. I'd rather answer them and keep you involved all season than to get frustrated and abandon your team in May. I've been playing fantasy baseball since 1994, so I'm sure I take for granted some things that aren't apparent to new players. Ask away, and good luck (except the weeks when you're playing me).

Well, glad I asked, that pretty much skull rapes the strategy I was using

There are some leagues that still use weekly line ups. We sure did back in the 90s since we had to manually score the damn thing using a newspaper. But on Yahoo it's easy to have daily changes and the scoring is done automatically. The end result is I end up playing in too many leagues.
