May we consider a more true 5 x 5 format next year? Just for something different? The randomness of week to week H2H is fun but maybe we take a break for a year?

I think you could root out the “luck” by extending the playoffs. 2 weeks for the semis. 3 weeks for the finals. That adds 3 weeks to the season with 4 weeks remaining, so plenty of time.

I like this approach because I'm not trying to disparage anything by saying "luck". What it is is random variance. Any shitburger can get hot for a week. If you want to see if that 4th OF can stay hot for 2-3 weeks, it's a different decision.

I go into full stream mode at the end as much or more than anyone, the current format rewards it more than it punishes it so that is why I have been asking about a traditional 5x5 roto format but the extended playoffs might be the better middle ground (assuming yahoo let's us do it).

I think you are right! Throw in a 6-5-1 finish once and MD beat me 5-4-3 last year. Crazy to think about being on the losing end of each of those close title matches…
