But if take that rule away, the "superior" SEC will send 10 teams to the BCS bowl games, shutting all the other conferences out.

I also noticed Hawaii's D -line going crazt if they held a run to 1-2 yard gains when the game was already way out of reach. Maybe trying to get the team fired up, but it was like, calm down you getting you ass kicked!

Put the pressure on the other guy, make him beat you, don't help him. When you are in trouble go to your strength, don't out think yourself. Boring, simple stuff that leads to a lot of W's.

And don't forget going-for-two WAY too early. He basically put up a giant neon sign in front of his players that read, "Time to Panic!".

All of the great coaches of old were seen as conservative, not because they never took chances, but because they didn't take foolish chances. The media loves "riverboat gambler" types though, and hypes them to the point of virtual felatio. Too many coaches seem to respond to that. Whether that's fair or not I don't know and don't really care. What is clear is that Jim Tressel doesn't give the slightest fraction of a damn that the media think his style of play is boring. He's human, so he hasn't been perfectly consistent on this score; but he's as good as any in the business right now at ignoring what's popular and sticking with what works.

So go back to the list of things that need to change that started this thread: How much of that would change if more coaches were like JT?
  1. Did OSU trash-talk and chest-thump more before The Vest took over, or after?
  2. Did OSU get called for more stupid late hits before The Vest took over, or after?
  3. Bowl Blow-outs have been with us forever. Some bad match-ups will occur in any system. Most of the blow-outs are caused by teams performing poorly rather than bad match-ups. Was OSU more competitive in bowls on a consistent basis before The Vest took over, or after?
...and yes, those are rhetorical questions.

Wisconsin has been dancing on everybody's logo for a long time. The entire Georgia team runs to the endzone for a dance after a TD in a regular season game this season. This new wave of poor sportsmanship is troubling to me. The head to head hitting. The talking after every play. Teams meeting at midfield and yapping.
Do people actually like this behavior?

And how over rated was the Big 12 this year?
