BOSTON - The Red Sox turned to a youngster, a kid just up from the minors, to end their losing streak. All they needed was for Clay Buchholz to give them a chance to win Saturday night.

But Buchholz is only 23. How was he to know that? Like the other kids filing into Boston this weekend, he came to town and pitched like he meant to take on the world. He took the whole team on his back and stood the ballpark on end.
