Boston College Eagles (official thread)

Gotta think long term though. He could've held out for much more attractive openings

What is an attractive opening for one guy just might not be that attractive for another. Not everyone aspires to be the head coach at Texas, USC, and/or Florida State, etc. He's an East coast guy (i.e. New Jersey) and went to Siena College* (so I'll ass/u/me he's Catholic); therefore, it is entirely possible that he (and his family)

are totally happy there. Luke Fickell claims to be happy at Cincinnati and (has reportedly) turned down "more attractive" coaching opportunities.

* Siena College is an American private Franciscan college in Loudonville, New York. Siena was founded by the Order of Friars Minor in 1937. The college was named after Bernardino of Siena, a 15th-century Italian Franciscan friar and preacher. St. Bernardine of Siena Friary is located on campus. It has 3,000 full-time students and offers undergraduate degrees in business, liberal arts, and sciences.

Idk if I'd use Fickell as an example as it's been documented that he probably would've been at ND if they had waited until the season ended. I also think that if the opportunity arose at OSU, Fickell burns the road up to Columbus before the AD hangs up the phone.
But you may be right about Hafley. He may be fine at BC with his family in Boston. That's the other thing, not every coach and their family wants to live in small, college towns.

Dark days for Jeff Hafley. Not sure if he survives this one. UConn's other wins are over Florida International, Fresno State, and Central Connecticut. Eagles fall to 2-6.

I mean,it’s BC. Who else are they gonna get that wants to be there? He may be shown out, and I’d take him in a heartbeat to coach anything on the OSU defense

Just looked up his contract. It's guaranteed through 2026 so he's probably safe for a couple more years. Gonna have a job trying to right that ship, though.

Meh, Addazio was there before him, and was there for 6yrs finished with a .500 record. In his 3rd year he finished with 8 straight loses, at least Hafley won’t finish that bad. Hafley will problem finish his contract with a similar record. But taking the job was a BIG mistake for Hafley. He could’ve possibly won an NC with OSU, or at least used a few more years coaching a great defense and then going to a more desirable location. He’s in a terrible position with a bottom feeder program. And there have been a number of better openings this past year and last. But he made his bed, and I’m sure his next spot will probably be another coordinator gig in ‘26
