CLEVELAND (AP) -- There's at least one other Big 3 in the NBA, and this trio isn't gracing any magazine covers.
LeBron James scored 38 points, Drew Gooden added a season-high 24 and Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 15 as Cleveland's threesome outplayed Boston's heralded triumvirate during a 109-104 win in overtime on Tuesday night.
James, who has raised his game to another level, scored 11 points in OT as the defending Eastern Conference champions dropped the Celtics to 11-2 with one of their best all-around performances of the early season.
James added 13 assists and finished 14-of-15 from the line, including 6-of-6 in OT. He, Gooden and Ilgauskas outscored Boston's Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce 77-64. "We don't want any tag," James said. "We don't want any Big 3 or whatever. We just go out there and do our job. Z is playing career basketball right now, Drew is getting better, and I'm going to do what I have to do for us to win, of course."

Celtics end Knicks' brief winning streak with colossal romp


BOSTON (AP) -- The New York Knicks' brief winning streak is history, and the Boston Celtics nearly made history ending it.
The Celtics cruised to their biggest victory since Larry Bird was in high school, beating New York 104-59 on Thursday night to send the Knicks to their third-worst loss and their second-worst scoring performance of the shot-clock era.
"Of course I am embarrassed. We lost by nearly 50 points," Knicks guard Stephon Marbury said. "I'm angry. I'm always angry when I lose, but that was just flat-out embarrassing. To lose that bad was just ridiculous."

It was the sixth-biggest win in Celtics history and the biggest since a 153-107 victory over the Baltimore Bullets in 1970 -- five NBA titles ago.

Late Heat rally falls short against Celtics



MIAMI (AP) -- For the second time in two weeks, the Miami Heat got into significant trouble against the Boston Celtics.
Not a good idea against the NBA's hottest team.

Paul Pierce scored 18 of his 27 points in the first quarter, Kevin Garnett added 23 and the Celtics wasted most of a 28-point lead before beating the Heat 95-85 on Friday night.

Ray Allen scored 17 for the Celtics, who prevailed despite missing 12 of 13 shots over an 8 1/2-minute span late in the game -- a drought that allowed Miami to make a huge comeback bid.

Pierce, Garnett help Celtics coast past Sixers


PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The Boston Celtics hung on against a feisty Philadelphia team thanks to their Big Three -- and a couple of big 3s, too.
Eddie House and James Posey delivered decisive 3-pointers to help the usual, strong efforts of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen hold up for a 113-103 win over the 76ers on Wednesday night.

"You've got to have role players to have a good team," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said.

House and Posey played their roles to near perfection. The duo went 7-for-13 on 3s that made all the difference late in the game against a Sixers team with something to prove. Posey scored 17 points, House had 15 and Boston's bench outscored Philadelphia 46-26.

Costal do you watch many of the games? I'm really getting fed up with Rondo. House and Posey are great support...Rondo is a freakin waste, can't make a shot for his life, doesn't pass well ...he likes to penetrate and miss.

I have NBA ticket and I have watched every game......I am going to have to disagree with you about Rondo.....does he play like a first year starter at times? Of course he does but he is shooting 52.9% from the field on 64-121 shots and playing 32 minutes a game while only turining the ball over 1.88 a game. Averaging 8.4 points and 5.3 assists per game. He is also a decent defensive player. I think he has been a suprise so far this year. I am suprised he has not attempted a three point shot this year and his struggles from the foul line.

I don't know...I don't get in to the notty gritty of stats. I put action on many games, so watch with a careful eye. Maybe it's just the games I have interest in, he does poor. He got pulled last night in favor of House running the point for a bulk.

I've only been able to watch a couple. I think everyone was a little worried about Rondo. However, their record and stats show the ball is getting shared enough, at least so far.

Ray Allen led all scorers with 28 points as the Celtics started and finished strong in a 92-81 road win against the Bulls on Saturday. Red-hot Boston won for the sixth straight time and posted the 10th win in its last 12 contests
