Seems random. The first guy I created had no weapons but when I got to Level 2 he got a knife.

My other guy started with a stick (and when he leveled up he got a bomb :biggrin:) and then my 3rd creation started with a butcher's knife.

I assume it is random, but as you move up you get more stuff.
