Re: Of course, there is the possibility the two could meet in the Rose Bowl this year. If Michigan State wins the Big Ten and the Pac-10 champion plays in the national championship game, the Rose Bowl would be required to take the top qualifier from the non-AQ schools. That could be Boise State.

Let's hope not. Needless to say, we want Ohio State to be the automatic Big 10 qualifier for the Rose Bowl. I kind of gave up hope for the BCS National Championship game with the loss to Wisconsin. :biggrin:

Sparty and Boise St could also meet in the BCS Title game, which would allow the Rose Bowl to select Ohio State to play the Pac Ten champion. :wink2:

We won't find out their true credibility until they join a real conference. We already know they can get up for one or two big games per year. And I'd be surprised if MSU was at their current level in two years. I hope they are..

If Sparty can beat Iowa today it could easily happen. Anything can happen; however, I really don't think Minnesota, Purdue, or Penn State will beat them.

I expect the other undefeateds (i.e Orgegon, Missouri, and Auburn) to lose a game so you could easily have Boise State and Sparty (both undefeated) at #1 and#2. What a travesty and/or injustice that would be. I don't consider either one as being one of the best 5 or 6 teams in the country. :(

You say that like this isn't exactly what Boise wants.

The 'cannot schedule big teams' excuse is propaganda by Boise. They just demand too much for the privilege of scheduling them :roll2:

How often is Sparty going to be the cream of the Big Ten? Next year? This is a strategic game to announce a series against what looks like a Big Ten powerhouse. Color me unimpressed.

Color me unimpressed as well.

Let's say , just for perspective, that Boise St were in the Big Ten and had to play 8 conference games. Boise St might finish 7th in the Big Ten standings. So this would be the equivalent to MSU vs Illini or tsun.

Whoever gets Boise in a bowl game this year I hope they bring their plungers.

Given Sparty's cyclical nature, there's a very good chance they'll be a fifth or sixth place Big Ten team in two years. Boise makes a big p.r. statement because of Sparty's improbable success this year with minimal risk of a 55-6 ass kicking when the whistle ultimately blows.
