Boise State 17, TCU 10 (final) Fiesta Bowl

ESPN's game info blurbs include the fact that Boise State is seeking to become only the second FBS team to go 14-0, and that 2002 tOSU was the first. It's good to see that fact get mentioned.

And if TCU wins tonight, the Buckeyes get to hold that distiction by themselves for an extra 3 days!

(Since Texas and Bama are both 13-0, one of them will get there).

Not exactly the same payoff for Boise if they make the 14-0.

I do not agree with these two teams playing each other. The object here is for them to play powerhouse schools to for legit comparisons. When two non-BCS conference teams play each other, we don't get a fair look to compare the quality and talent of the teams'. I loved the Utah/Alabama, Oklahoma/Boise St, Cincy/Florida matchups. GTech/TCU, Iowa/Boise St would be the matchups I would prefer to see.

Boring Bowl...

Would rather of had them play a team from a BCS conference.
I'm really disappointed in this matchup. These two teams needed to play power BCS conference teams, not each other. At least that was my hope, because I'd be fine if the BCS system were blown up, and the fastest way to get there is for Utahs to keep knocking off Alabamas, and Boise State to keep knocking off Oklahomas.

In any event, I like TCU in this one. MWC has really flexed its muscle this bowl season. The WAC, not so much.

Agree Dryden. I think they let them in and then pushed them aside by letting them play each other instead of a good caliber team.

I wish Boise would get their shot at a BCS Conference team for once, like many have said.

But all in all I think I'll enjoy this game. I think if Boise plays a good game + their consecutive undefeated seasons, they should get a shot at a BCS Conference team next season.

Cmon' Boise !

While I take some small comfort in the disrespect inherent in the Kid's Table Bowl, they should be playing Iowa and GT. This proves nothing. It doesn't allow them the chance to prove that they can hang with BCS teams, and it doesn't allow the BCS schools the chance to smack them down and say you don't belong.

That being said, TCU actually plays defense. I think they win going away.

BTW, here's hoping that whoever wins does so in blowout fashion. The further down the polls the loser slides, the better our chance for a top 5 finish.

I like the match-up. They're evenly matched teams, more or less.. at least they're the same "caliber"

Not sure Iowa or Georgia Tech would provide either of them with the sort of step up in typical competition that they'd need to be able to "prove" anything regarding how they'd play the 'big boys.' But, maybe I don't think highly enough of Georgia Tech and Iowa...

I think Iowa-Ga Tech is fine -I would have enjoyed Florida-Boise and TCU-Cincy, in order to give Boise and TCU a chance to prove themselves.

And I think one of them would have done so. :wink2:
