Which begs the question... Is it ok that I'm actually happy an American failed?

Honestly in my opinion no. I don't understand why people wanted to see him or any other American athlete fail. Just like the people that rooted against the American basketball team in the summer olympics.

Let Me ask you this. Why were you rooting against him? Is it because he admitted to skiing hung over?

I honestly just do not know why people wanted him to fail.

let's see, Bode Miller has a pretty good run that puts him right near the top of the standings... I liked his interview on sunday (I was happy with my run, but I was racing for second today. The other guy was just incredible).

Reality TV sickens me. Not only do I have to be bombarded by its uncreative, repetitive filth all week on TV... but now it is dominating the olympics too.

Why is it such a big deal that he skied once while hung over? If this were Brett Favre, and he won it all the next time he competed after such an interview, he would be carried down the streets as a hero for overcoming adversity.

Could someone start an olympic news thread, so that we can avoid other headlines like this one? Not that there is much that compares to the bode suspense...

Actually, i have no problem with the hungover part. His choice, don't care.

I do have a problem with him calling out other American athletes like Lance Armstrong or Barry Bonds without anything to back up his claims. I support American athletes, but not through that shit.

I see nothing wrong with it if the guy is a jerk. I enjoyed the US basketball team getting humiliated. If Michael Redd was on the team would I have rooted for them? Probably.

See I don't really get that. The guys that showed up for the American team wanted to be there, and it wasn't their fault Redd got shafted. None of the guys on the team were "thugs" like people wanted to portray them.

The only guy on that team that I despised was Stephon Marbury (and now Carlos Boozer), and in an individual Olympic competition, I wouldn't root for him. But most of the guys on that team are fine ballplayers and fine people.

they had already begun building the gallows long before the armstrong comments, SD. That's what I have a problem with. Personally, I'm not a fan of the guy. I just think the media is desperate for a story and creating something out of nothing.

I'm sure all of you knew someone who was so smart or so athletic that even if they partied the night before they would still dominate the following day. It might make their uptight mother worried, but they still got the job done.

The media complains because people give them wishy-washy answers, then they get someone who tells the truth and they crucify the guy.

I don't get it.

DING DING DING we have a winner. The media wants everyone to be "honest" with them, but then if it isn't what they want to hear then they want to burn him at the stakes.

As for Him being a jerk, so what. What do you know about the people he competes against other than the human interest story that the American Media will focus on. Of course if they ran a negative story about a non-american they would be looked at as bashing other while pushing American Ideals. But for all we know the people in the other countries have done or said worse.

Even if I don't like an athlete in the olympics for American I most liek just won't watch that event, but no way am I going to root against them, esp. if the thing I disagreed with was just some comments, if he was a murderer maybe I would think different, but for expressing his opinion nope.

Really? What if he had said something off color like "Ohio State cheated and should have their National Title taken away." Would you cheer against him then? Because that's practically what he did to Lance Armstrong.

Honestly, I didn't even know who the guy was until he made those comments. That's when I found out about the hungover thing, and again, I couldn't care less about that.

Thanks. I'm glad that my efforts to avoid Olympic news so I can enjoy watching the delayed telecasts have succeeded.

:slappy:My fiance was so hyped up over the womens half pipe yesterday before they showed the final run. I walk into the room and she said, "The US is lined up to sweep the medals in this event." I reply, "We only win gold and silver." I guess she didn't realize that they post the results long before they show it on TV.
