BMWs were dreadfully dull cars driven by boring people before Bangle arrived. Their designs under his watch have been innovative and dramatic. No one mistakes a modern BMW for any other car, and he's moved them to the forefront of automotive styling.

Just go look at some mid-90's 5 series to see a textbook definition of stale and uninspired.

He and Adrian Van Hooydonk are brilliant, and are combining to do some of the best design work anywhere.

I absolutely love the 1er, and I can't wait to test drive one at MAG.

I don't know..... I dug the 95-01 versions of BMW but not the newer ones....If I see someone driving them it's usually a gay guy or a housewife. More girly (or MetroSexual) styling and lines.

I don't know, this looks pretty awesome to me (not 1 series, but new M3)

I never cared much for Bangle's designs until rather recently. The current designs look very polished, and frankly, after driving my brother's 550 M-sport (he works for BMW Financial) I could care less how it looked. Those things are un-freakin-believeable.

The Concept CS has a very good chance of seeing the light of day as their high-end offering (above the 7 series, if such a car is actually needed). A far, far cry from the BMW of the 80's and 90's.

Having said that, I was fond of some of Henrik Fisker's designs, who did work for BMW before Bangle. He was responsible for the first M-coupe and the Z8, I believe. He's started his own coachbuild company. Give him $300,000 and a 6-series BMW and he will give you this:

Exactly what I thought when driving the 3-series as well... didn't like the style of the sedan, preferred the A4 or IS to it, but the way it drives just blows everything else in the price range out of the water.
