Biggest Freak in OSU Football History?

http://www.muscleprodigy.com/john-simon-workout-arcl-1814.html

The fact that John Simon had a 450 lb. bench and a 700 lb. squat when he left high school is mind boggling. He even did 31 reps of the 225 lb. bench press at 16 years old, which most stud NFL players probably couldn't do right now.

But this brings me to my question...who is the biggest freak to grace the OSU locker room? Simon is definitely up there but Vernon Gholston may take the crown. Gholston was 265 pounds and around 6% body fat. He did do 37 reps on the 225 lb. bench press, which isn't top notch for his size (Simon supposively did 48 reps). Gholston also ran a 4.5 40 time and a 35" vertical, which is absolutely insane!

We've had a number of guys who were off the charts.

How about Alonzo Spielman?

:osu:

Kind of a Hybrid DE/LB?

Actually, though, if we assume you meant Spellman... if we were talking about "First guy off the bus" types. He is the one who came immediately to mind.

Yeah, that didn't look right when I typed it out but I was too lazy to find the correct spelling. My bad...

Yeah, 'Zo could tie his shoes standing up.

Orlando Pace was ridiculously nimble for a monster.

I remember reading a quote from Mr Pace before a game with Illinois, they were asking him about defending against then phenom Simeon Rice.

He said "Yea, he's pretty strong for a little guy." cracked me up then and now.

I remember claims of a 42 inch verticle leap for ahmed plummer thought that was pretty impressive. on top of the guys already mentioned. Just tried to look that one up and found our very own donald washington is listed as tying for 4th best ever at 45 inches on topendsports.com

Look up Joey Galloway's numbers in the weight room.

Similarly look up Jim Lachey's HS track exploits (here's a hint: he was a hurdler, and a damn good one).

Speaking of track Brandon Saine's accomplishments are even more impressive when you saw just how much larger he was than everyone he lined up against.

Teddy Ginn Jr's physical gifts will likely never be matched.

And of course there's David Boston

Spelling fixed. But yeah 'Zo was a physical freak long before he was known as a mental one.

Lived down the hall from Zo his frosh year. In one word: scary.

Still have memories of the Illinois game that year when the OL parted like the Red Sea and Zo had a 10-yard full run before he ran through Jeff George like a turnstyle.
