There's a difference between "running up the score" and "letting your players score points." If your first team offense is in the game all game long and you're throwing deep passes when you're already up by seven touchdowns is "running up the score." Putting 2nd, 3rd, and 4th team players in and having them run the ball 90% of the plays AND they're still scoring is "letting your players score points."

Running up the score is disrespectful to the opposing team and their fans and to football. I don't care how much trash-talking the other team has been doing, or an "upset" win they got last year - I won't support running up the score.

Do you know who the coach of that Portland State team was? This is some fun trivia: none other than "Mouse" Davis.

This gets better. His first QB was June Jones who was followed by Lomax.

Anyway, I think that it's interesting that two of the games I mentioned featured run and shoot offenses. By their nature, even with backups in the game they don't really have an "off" switch.

It's sort of the opposite of the offense we have now, which doesn't really have an "on" switch. :tongue2: (Just kidding! Don't ding me please.)

I guarantee you that the 105-point PSU and the 100-point and 95-point Houston games didn't feature many bench players. I rarely ever support a purposeful ass-beating, but if the opposing team talks a lot of shit and their coaching staff does nothing to stop it, then I'll look the other way. Otherwise, like I said earlier (and as you said also) running up the score with your first-teamers is unsportsmanlike. Now, if your bench kids are still scoring, then let them score...

obviously the question is why bother scheduling this team and then the other question is what do you do if your tech's head coach? do you think he is going to tell them to purposely fall down so the game doesnt get out of hand? people are SERIOUSLY considering tech might put up triple digits.

Leach will throw to the endzone until the final whistle. He will not slow down at all. He may pull his starters somewhere in the 4th quarter, but then again he might not.

i can easily see 100 points then. no offense(maybe defense)to indiana state but they are struggling program in D1AA and cant compete with prolly anybody from texas techs team. tech might burn some redshirt freshman in this game.
