It seems like they've had every OSU loss of the last ten years as a greatest game the past few weeks.

That just shows how big Ohio State is. If your program can beat Ohio State it is considered one of your greatest games. It also shows that since 2002 while Ohio State has been highly ranked in most of those seasons there seemed to be one team that should not beat them, does.

Seems like a pretty cool app, but I hope I don't have to use it to actually watch any tOSU games this season. I finally have DirecTV now...

Well, you have to be a home subscriber in the first place to be able to use the app. It's not a cable or satellite replacement. If you find yourself at some stupid wedding or something though, you'll be covered.

It's nice to have even when you're at home though. I used it last season on my iPad as a second screen.

Oh, I know you have to be a home subscriber first. Anybody stupid enough to schedule a wedding on Buckeye football Saturday is no friend of mine!

Yeah, I'm sure I'll get some use out of it, which is why I downloaded it. I just hope I'm watching the games on a nice, large TV instead of my little smartphone. :wink2:

This should come in handy on Labor Day weekend when my daughter is playing soccer at the Dublin Charity Cup.

I totally respect the BTN decision and back their statement 100%. 180 degrees from the perspective of Espin. Cover sports and sports stories like we want them to and let news channels handle the news. Bravo!

One criticism the network got, I think it was Chicago Tribune (but not certain), was that BTN covered the Urban Meyer hiring press conference wire-to-wire, but not the Penn State/Louis Freeh press conference Thursday.

So the criticism was, Meyer's hiring was a news event and Thursday's was also a news event.

With more staff and continued evolution, I imagine 10 years from now, BTN may be different.

I agree with the BTN's stance on this issue, though I'd hope they'd apply it more consistently in the future.

It's not as if the Freeh Report wasn't being covered at all yesterday. A multitude of other outlets were carrying the story. What could BTN possibly have contributed that would have been worthwhile?

Meanwhile, as to the larger question about whether or not they should be covering news items - there's that whole "conflict of interest" thing that comes with the network being owned in part by the institutions they'd be covering. I've long criticized ESPN for failing to disclose their conflicts of interest and for being selective in which stories they cover and which stories they overblow. I would rather BTN stay out of that game altogether.
