I had held off upgrading to digital+HD with Time Warner because I was waiting out this BTN deal to see if I would wind up going with DirecTV this year. With the BTN deal done, I'll probably stay with TW now (RoadRunner was the keeper for me, not cable TV).

Anyway, my question for those of you with digital+HD through TW, if I call to upgrade my service, can I opt to keep basic/expanded cable on some TVs in the home? I'm really only going to need the digital+HD service on the main TV in our living room and would rather keep the basic 70-80 channels on the cheap-o TVs that are in the bedrooms. Is that possible?

I don't want to be renting five or six digital tuners if I can get by with just one on the HD-ready TV that will benefit from it.

Yes, you can go with the one HD box for your main TV and leave the others on basic.

You don't get Vs. on your Time Warner service?

:tibor:

Just for that, I'm going to continue the bitching.

It's unfair! I don't have cable and I don't get the BTN! This is bullshit! Unless BTN starts providing nationwide over-the-air service, I'm never going to believe they are doing this for any reason other than money. Unbelievable! Screw the BTN and screw over-the-air television! :pissed:
no versus? that means no hockey, unless you have a top secret canadian sat dish, or so they say-not that i would know (nothing to see here).... :wink2:

The Dispatch said that details have not been released, but they did mention HD and video-on-demand. My guess is that they will show the featured game and/or the local team's game on the extended basic(analog channel) and on their HD lineup. All other overflows will be on-demand and possibly in HD.

I've got Versus on T-W. That's why I was asking.

I know nothing of these alleged Canadian satellite dishes.

Does TW have the overflow channels? And in HD? I know other cable networks have not necessarily had that.

TW is behind DTV in a lot of areas, and NFL network is a pretty big loss on their stubborn part.

Yeah, this is my concern with Mediacom. Apparently Mediacom out here in Iowa has reached a deal with BTN but no details have been released. They will obviously show the Iowa vs Maine game at noon. I wonder what the chances are of them carrying the other noon games as overflow?

For digital cable, I don't see why not. During March Madness a few years back they added 3 extra CBS channels, so you could watch every game. For the Olympics this year they added an extra HD channel just for live covereage from Beijing. Analog cable might be a different story.

Hopefully they will have all of the BTN channels.

Also, Cbus TW gets Versus (plus VS HD), yet we don't get it here in Cinci...
