THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
It's not what Ohio State's president, athletic director or football coach would prefer, but the Buckeyes likely will play Michigan on Thanksgiving weekend each season as soon as 2009. With most of their coaches clamoring for a bye week, the Big Ten presidents on Dec. 2 approved extending the football season by one week.
Teams used to have a week off, but when the NCAA added a 12th game before the 2006 season, the Big Ten lost its bye week because it traditionally has completed play before Thanksgiving, the only major conference to do so.
That meant 12 straight weeks of games, and coaches hated that.
