Sucks for the history of the conference and for poor Oregon st and wasu. I do love how no one gives a shit about cal or Stanford.
People vaguely care about Stanford cause Directors cup and maybe ND implications...

Cal on the other hand their admin hasn't even made an announcement about today's news yet so that't about sums up that. Beyond the Lawyer fight on the Alimony they forced on UCLA is going to be epic now

Not saying that Oregon and UW (the other one), are not respected universities and athletic programs. Being an economic guy, I wonder if the viewing power isn't diluted a bit. Eugene is not a robust in numbers (frankly do not know the viewing sample of them or Oregon St), or that of University of Washington. Certainly Seattle is a large metropolitian area, but now convinced that college football is as rabid there. Anyone know if there was a codicil in the B10 TV viewing agreement that increases the money if more teams are added? If not, then the same money is spread among more teams. OK, from what have read, the 'new two' money is not as great as current B10 teams, and will be more of a gradual increase, ala Rutgers and Maryland, but the law of diminishing returns is being applied here. PS, would maybe 'cut' some current members, based on the AAU philosophy (Nebraska), and viewer attendance (Rutgers, Maryland, Iowa). Anyone know how well the other sports will be impacted by the 'new two'?
Surprisingly, there are probably more Oregon fans in Central Ohio than there are fans of most other B1G programs. Young people love the Oregon / Nike culture. And true Oregon Duck fans are huge college football fans.

Portland and Seattle are good college football markets. More importantly, I would think, is that the Big can now dominate Saturdays all freakin' day. Here on the west coast (depending on scheduling) I will be able to watch a BIG game from 9am until nearly midnight. Kind of psyched about that (kind of bummed about the Beavs and hope they find a way to keep the Civil War and Apple Cup alive).

Washington has a big media market and Oregon is typically top 15 in viewing nationally when they are half decent.

It adds 1 game per week (and most will be good games) and it will allow them to seriously open up the 10:30 time slot for any of the partners to jump in. It’s not 7:30, but if it’s worth 1/3 the 7:30 slot then that’s $100M.

I know this is all about $$$ and I'm sure it's going to be a big boost for CFB in general, but the sport is largely ruined for me. Part of what attracted me so to CFB was the tradition, pageantry, and (perceived, yes) amateur nature of it. It's all become so corporate/commercialized that I just can't get into it anymore like I did before. It's unfortunate, because I've been so passionate about it since probably 1989, 1990. But it's not the same game anymore. Just my own personal feelings on it, I don't knock anyone for being excited about it. I'm sure I'm in the minority.
