I still think getting Texas and Oklahoma to join and sticking them in the Western Division with Nebraska would be great. That way we'd have the #2, #4, and #12 teams in all-time winning percentage in the Eastern Division, and the #5, #7, and #8 teams in all-time winning percentage in the Western Division...six of the top 12 all-time winning percentage teams would be in the B1G.

While I enjoy these discussions, keep in mind that the B1G is more than football. It's more than sports in fact. Let's not let the quest for a tidy way to crown a Nat'l Champ on the gridiron make us lose sight of that.
Lies! Lies and slander!

My post was in jest considering the recent goings on around the conference in football. I wouldn't seriously want to kick out a school over sports performance. The Pedsters on the other hand? Well...

B1G E
Ohio State
TSUN
Sparty
Indiana
Purdue
PSU
Maryland
Rutgers
Virginia

B1G W
Texas
Nebraska
Oklahoma
Kansas
Iowa
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Illinois
Northwestern

If you want to maximize games between original Big Ten members the teams in italics could swap divisions every other year. Unfortunately Iowa is the one school that gets screwed.

Like they'd care. I mean, they're content with fucking Kirk Ferentz after all.

You have 18, not 16 teams, listed. Just include Texas and Oklahoma, and leave out Kansas and Virginia. Leave Illinois in the West and bring Purdue to the East (I'd rather have Illinois in the East to renew to rivalry, but geography trumps that).

The primary reason that Texas isn't coming is geography. If you want to bridge that gap Kansas is the only realistic way to do it.

This is the reality of Texas to the B1G:
Lincoln 820 miles
Iowa City 1,042 miles
Champaign 1,030 miles
Bloomington 1,065 miles
West Lafayette 1,123 miles
Minneapolis 1,173 miles
Evanston 1,180 miles
Madison 1,184 miles
Columbus 1,234 miles
East Lansing 1,349 miles
The Whore 1,368 miles
College Park 1,536 miles
State College 1,553 miles
Piscataway 1,719 miles

Waco 102 miles
Forth Worth 190 miles
Norman 371 miles
Lubbock 373 miles
Stillwater 451 miles
Manhattan 676 miles
Lawrence 701 miles
Ames 964 miles
Morgantown 1,399 miles

But they nearly had a deal to go to the PAC, which has even longer travel distances

How about instead of expanding, the conference threatens to kick some deadweight overboard unless they get off their apathetic asses and try to compete.

I've often thought it'd be amusing to see what happened if we had promotion/relegation with the MAC... I have a feeling at least a few B1G schools would stop futzing around in mediocrity with the prospect of losing all the bowl and BTN money.

So basically the conference will be Ohio State and Michigan State.
As long as they can hold onto Dantonio - which seems solid for the next few years - but the history of Sparty has never been as a consistent power. They have a huge task just to stay close to Big Brother. Michigan may flounder through the current coaching chase, but I just don't see them continuing to slide much longer. Too much tradition, world class facilities, enormous alum base, an endowment fund that towers over OSU's, to stay down forever.
