Well, they refer to the Big Ten as the Big 10, which is immediately wrong. They also write that Notre Dame announced they would be joining, which in reality would never happen - Delany would announce that we are letting, permitting or considering the possibility of having ND join us. I encourage looking for the FACTS on a reputable site like ESPN before posting

Don't forget the EVIDENTS that ESPiN gives.

Big East looking to add 14th football member

New Big East Commissioner Mike Aresco confirmed Thursday that the conference wants to add a 14th member for football, and is planning to have a championship game after next season.

Aresco spoke with reporters Thursday night before Connecticut's football game with Massachusetts.

'We're looking at a 14th,'' he said. ''I'm not talking about which ones. There are some obvious candidates, but we're not talking about raiding anyone and there are some independents that might potentially want to be a member.''

.../cont/...
Currently 1A has four programs that are independents:

Navy (who is joining the Big East in 2015)
Notre Dame (not a chance in hell)
BYU
Army

It wouldn't even matter if you did talk about which ones you were interested in, Mike Aresco, because the sad truth is no one really cares.

I'm sure the ACC is banking on ND joining as a football member down the road, just like the Big East was doing. If that happens (probably a 50/50) chance, especially if ALL B1G teams stop playing those assholes and tell them to pound sand, the ACC could be a viable conference. Definately more viable than the Big 12-4+2.

Really not sure that the huge, 16 member conferences are sustainable long term, though.

Good for the ACC. Way to give power to over to a partial-member who will cause chaos to conference standings and schedules for years to come.. I believe this means that Notre Dame will not play UM, MSU, or Purdue any longer.

I believe ND desperately clinging to being a "national program" rather than embracing the fact that they are a regional Midwest team since at least the early 90's has hurt them.

They absolutely cannot beat local teams in California, Texas, Florida or anyplace else for the top talent in those states, at least not on a consistent basis, and yet they continue to try. They could (probably, although that ship may have sailed at this point as well) compete in the midwest, but they focus elsewhere because of their delusions of grandeur.

The results are evident on the field, in my opinion.

If the ACC rumor is true, hopefully ND's recruiting in the mid-west is damaged even further and they continue their perpetual decent into suck.
