And I liked the Mountain West. :( Wherever shall my Aztecs end up!

So which two WAC teams does the MWC poach to replace BSU & AF?

Edit: Actually if UCF goes to the Big East, you could just slide UTEP over to the MWC they would only need to add one to get both conferences to 10.

That would effectively give you four pods of 5.

West:
SDSU
Nevada
UNLV
Fresno St.
Hawaii

Mountain:
Wyoming
Colorado St.
New Mexico
UTEP
+1 (New Mexico St, Utah St, Idaho?)

East:
ECU
Marshall
UAB
Memphis

Central:
SMU
Rice
Houston
Tulane

The main question being where to slot Tulsa & So Miss

Conference USA will lose UCF to the Big Least, and the MWC will lose Air Force and BSU, provided those teams actually end up joining the Big East.

ok so minus those 3 teams and its still 19 teams.....which is still fucking insane and stupid

And it's really two separate conferences that are just having a playoff football game in the hopes of getting a BCS bid.

BTW how will potential BCS bowl money pay out? "Congratulations on sending a team to the BCS! Let's see after dividing it up equally...here's your $8."

Given the way Conference USA is really spread over the map, I expect this to be a pod system.

Despite my fiddling around above I have a feeling it won't be pods.

I think you'll just each current conference schedule entirely internally and then send their champ to face the one from the other current conference.

If UTEP actually went west (which admittedly probably won't happen) to the MWC and it picks up one more team you would have two ten team conferences which would be perfect as each could play a full round robin to determine a champ. Then those champs could just meet in the cross conference championship game.

Doing that would help prevent the rivalry dilution you'd see by adding teams from the other side of the country to your conference schedule periodically over the years.

I like the move.

Eventually, you'd likely have the MAC merge with the Big East and/or sunbelt to create another super conference.

It'd make a lot of sense in a 8-team playoff:

B1G Winner
SEC Winner
PAC Winner
ACC Winner
At-Large
At-Large
MWC/C-USA Winner
MAC/Sun Belt Winner

That way, the top two seeded teams essentially get tune up games with the 24-team conferences, while the rest have to have major competition with one another.

Yep. SEC champ vs. Sun Belt champ = epic win. :shake:
