The Oklahoma thing cannot be stated enough- Can you think of any other team that would say to Ohio State or another Big T1e2n program "Hey, we'll do what you do. We don't care that you make a lot of money, as long as you give us just a little bit."

I can?t imagine how a Sooner fan could stomach this- They know that, even if they win the "Dr. Pepper Red River Shootout Brought To You By The Bevo TV Network" 77-0, they will still be a) losing money and b) to their number one rival.

After a quick check of some Sooner boards, it looks to me like they are in denial.

There is a great deal of talk about Nebraska scampering off because they are afraid. That's right, the team that came within 1 second of the conference championship last year is afraid. r-i-g-h-t

Then there's the talk about whom to add to the North (ignoring the occasional post reminding them of the announcements that they're standing pat at 10). Bad enough is the talk about adding teams like Cincy (taken seriously by many) and Memphis; but seriously delusional is the talk about adding ND.

Not one word however about how the Steer is Steering the Sooner Schooner. Shaggy should do an MS Paint thread on that concept.

Watch out for the Mountain West. Adding Boise State, potentially looking at getting a BCS invite, having a network already set up... if they can keep Utah from the Pac-10 and add teams like Tech, they'll start looking a little more legit. Plus, a team like Tech could go there and bully people around instead of being UT's crony.

Thats what I was thinking, though I don't think they prevent Utah from leaving for the P10...

At this point they may be the rich man's Big East.
You can't be a credible version of a joke conference.

They have three teams that are decent (TCU, Utah, Boise) and one of them is probably headed to the pac-10. Their next tier features some of the worst defenses in CFB (Air Force, Nevada, etc).

Texas Tech would be another 4th tier team.

They are not worthy of a BCS bid, though I suppose it would make it simpler to just give them the automatic bid the media basically gives them every year they have a good year.

Rich man's Big East and joke of conference are not mutually exclusive adjectives.
You forgot BYU. Let's rank the MWC vs the Big East
TCU ..................UC
Boise St..............Pitt
BYU ..................USF
Utah .................WVU
Air Force ............Rutgers
Colorado St ........UConn
San Diego St ......Syracuse
UNLV.................Louisville
New Mexico

Call it a wash to me so yeah the Rich man's Big East was exaggerating a bit, but is the MWC any worse than the Big Least?

The Big XII has received assurances but nothing has been signed. What is to stop Fox and ESPN/ABC from low-balling them now that the circus appears to be over? The Big XII's value is most certainly down now... should be interesting to see how this plays out.

You know, ESPN stands to gain alot this summer by feigning interest in saving the B12 to keep talks going, only to let talks die weeks/a month from now so expansion hype boils over again and viewers keep watching, say, just after the World Cup? No.... they'd never do that... not during the slow baseball season...

Mandel still bringing the goods:

Stewart Mandel (slmandel) on Twitter

Per Sports Business Daily, FSN is pledging to increase its Big 12 deal by 500 percent. Are we sure Boone Pickens not behind this? 21 minutes ago via TweetDeck

RT @Ourand_SBJ: Here is SportsBusiness Daily's report on the TV deals surrounding the Big 12 conference. http://ow.ly/1YRiP

RT @DanBeebe TTU and OSU aren't signing new deal because of revenue sharing structure? Not Texas-heavy enough for their tastes, I presume.

If this has to be done, I'd like to pick up Louisville. Quality football team, and good tradition for basketball.Never mind devaluing the greatest rivalry game in sports. :smash: Television executives, from a not yet started nor successful network no less, should not be involved in this monumental decision.

a) Split up OSU/UM, risk a repeat :bonk:
b) Put OSU/UM in the same division, risk a 'b12 north' parallel in the other division :sick1:

As an outsider, until recent developements, to the Big-10 conference one of my favorite games of the season each and every season is The Ohio State vs Michigan. It rivets the entire nation not just the respective schools fanbases. IMHO, It would be a travesty to break up that long, colorful and storied rivalry.

Back when the old Big-8 merged with some schools from the defunct SWC our (Nebraska) long standing and intense yearly thanksgiving rivalry game with Oklahoma was tossed away and any loyalty I had to the newly formed Big-12 conference ended with that decision.
also: Promise Of FSN Extension, ESPN Stability Helps Big 12 Stay Intact
From that link:

As part of its proposed deal, FSN has asked to take control of the conference's third-tier rights that are currently controlled by rights holders IMG, ISP and Learfield, sources said. These rights include radio, local media, third-tier TV rights, corporate sponsorships, and in-stadium and arena signage.

Your conference or your Godzillatron!!!

Tell me about it. You thnk there isn't going to be a lot of anger and distrust within that conference. It is going to crumble like a house of cards. Now Texas Tech may hold up the entire deal because they don't want to get crapped on, apparently. Although, I expect them to fall in line with the rest of the little 7. As I said in another post, the real winner in the B12 fiasco in A&M because they were essentially an afterthought in that league. Now they are one of the 3 bullies. Their admin played their cards right and came out with a win.

I can believe they'd agree to the better TV deal for the big guys, but giving up the penalty money from Colo/Neb is astounding.

Somebody needs to make an MS Paint with the little guys of the remaining Big 12 asking Bevo to back up some more, since their noses aren't quite far enough up his ass.
