That's right only true Buckeyes are allowed to come on here and sound like total jackasses.

Example A: mercer_buckeye

Hell, I thought what I said was kinda tame. Imagine what would have happened if Mili would have been the first one the find the thread. The kid might be toast already.

number 1..How would you guys view Notre Dame joining the big Ten for football? First of all let me say that we, ummm, hate ND. Saying that, lots of us think it would only be natural to have them join your conference. the matchups are regional and fierce, and you could then actually have a conference championship game. ND OSU would be a nice game question 2...as a buckeye fan do you think it is fair that a loser of a league championship game should be punished in the polls when a big ten team can just sit home on dec 4? this is a legit question. I personally think that it blows that any school who plays in any ccg, wich is for money only, can lose a shot at the nc by playing in a game that 2 major conferences can skip. An example is kansas going to the orange bowl. Missouri beats kansas in the regular season, goes to the ccg against oklahoma, whom kansas didnt ever play in the first place, and sit on their duffs, eat popcorn and wish for missouri to lose. i personally loathe when an sec team is ranked 1 or 2 and has to win it to stay in it.

I don't know.

1. Notre Dame vs Northwestern could turn into a real rivalry to see which is the bottom dweller in the Big Ten. So, maybe that's okay.

2. Actually, I think what will really help is if the SEC teams play some of those OOC games away from home. You know, stop being such a bunch of pussies and come up north and play against some Big Ten teams in the OOC schedule. Be real men, like the guys at Texas and USC, instead of using all those home-cooking referees and home games to inflate their SOS against each other.

That's what I find so irritating is that they almost all leave the OOC with blemish-free records that they don't deserve and that puts them in the position that you describe.

I look for State Penn to leave the conference when JoePa stops coaching/dies. There are many Nitts who are unhappy with the Big Ten and the only thing keeping them in conference is JoPa's wishes. They don't like being a mid-level fish in the Big Ten pond. They would love to go independent, again and be the Beast of the East. State Penn leaves and it's back to 10 teams.

And the Domers would never soil they're tradition(so they think) by joining a conference.

No way ND joins the Big Ten at this point, they'd get smoked. While their independent schedule can be very tough, they always have enough weaker games to ensure a bowl berth (Stan, BC, Navy). If the B10 expands, I would put Pitt, WV, and Cincinnati at the top of the list. Pitt and UC would give PSU and OSU in-state rivals, WV is good enough to be competitive. Of course, each of them would have to be stolen from the Big East. UC would have to get a new staduim first.

As for conference chamionship games, I don't like it for the big ten. OSU and UM would have to be in the same division to preserve the rivalry. The thing that made it the bigest rivalry in college sports is the number of times the matchup decided the B10 champion. OSU/UM should always be the last game of the season.

Interesting, I can't imagine Penn St. leaving the Big Ten, they worked damn hard to get into it...

Agreed.

I really have nothing to add. I just don't like the idea of the Big 10 having a championship game. I really don't like conference championship games.

I wouldn't have a problem with ND joining the Big 10. I always like when schools with excellent traditions play each other. I enjoyed when OSU played ND a few years ago in the bowl game, and I enjoy the scUM/ND matchups even though I want both teams to lose.

Here's a question - assuming there were need for another team in your conference, and ignoring geography for the moment, would you want Notre Dame?

I think it would have to be an academically respected school with a strong history in football and/or basketball. Notre Dame would be a good fit with natural rivalries already in place and a huge following. Pitt would work and become a nice rival for PSU. I don't really like Cincy, WVU, or Louisville for a fit as they all seem too "new school" for my liking

I'm from New Jersey so I'm partial to Rutgers and although the recent football history isn't good with the exception of the past few years, they are the "Birthplace of College Football" and the NY market would be huge for the Big 10.

BC would be another school that would fit nicely, although I'm not sure they'd leave the ACC.

As far as any mid-major schools, I think the Big 10 still has the clout to swoop a team from a BCS conference, and that we should leave the mid-major to BCS transition for a less established conference like the Big East.

I guess my rankings would be:

1. Notre Dame
2. Pitt
3. BC
4. Rutgers

If the Big East forces ND to join as a full member, as they should, the Big East would need to drop another team. It could be like a three-way trade arrangement. No Big East team would just want to get dumped, or go to the ACC. That would give us some leverage to get the team we wanted. Other than ND, any logical choices happen to be in the Big East now. If PSU decides to leave the conference, they should keep it at 10.The only good thing about ND joining the Big Ten would be beating them every year, but that would start to diminish the value of past victories. I'm happy with 3-2.

As much as I love Troy, he was the reason we lost IMO. He was out of shape and partying the week of the game.

He wasn't the only one. The team looked lethargic coming onto the field, and the kickoff return was probably the worst thing that could've happened, in retrospect, even if Ginn hadn't got hurt. It simply fed into the overconfidence.

Ginn's injury was huge, too, and the defensive scheme was unwise - we should've pressured Leak, not sat back in coverage.

Worst of all, it didn't look like we made any adjustments all game. Toss in JT's uncharacteristic panic move on 4th down in the second quarter and the rout was on. :(

By the way, I favor Big Ten contraction. A ten team conference in a 12 game sked would allow all teams to play each other, and still have 3 OOC games.

Who would I lose? Iowa. Send them to the Big XII to replace Baylor and move the Bears to something like CUSA or the WAC, where they could compete. Iowa would already have a rival there in ISU.

Were they not a charter member of the conference I would dump Northwestern instead of Iowa. The BT's only private school, NU could kick butt in CUSA.

I have no interest in a Big Ten "championship game", that exists solely for $$$.

Damn Jake, when did I make that post? The night after the game?

After having 2 years to think about it.. I agree with your points.. we lost due to a combination of things: poor O-line play, losing Ginn changed the entire offense, poor D-line play, poor defensive scheme, not focused.
