Big 10 vote- Missouri over Nebraska?

I am WAY OK with the addition of UNL even stipulating that it is a football-only homerun.

Academically it's a base hit.

Athletically (non-football) it's a solid double.

But the Big Ten is not the Big East. The Big Ten is a football conference. Football-wise, this is a Grand Slam.

I voted for Missouri because I feel that they fit in better than the other choices, including Nebraska. Nebraska is one of those large prarie states like Kansas and the Dakotas, while Missouri gives me the impression that they are more midwestern like the other states in the Big Ten (even PA).

Hello Big 10! I can tell you that the majority of Husker Nation is very excited to be a part of the Big 10 and what it represents. I just want to assure you that we DO in fact represent more that just a good football team.

We also have one of the best woman's bowling teams in the country!

IMHO this also a home run in womens volleyball. This makes the Big-10 equal to or ever stronger than the Pac-10 in womens volleyball. Matches between Nebraska and PSU should be epic and go a long way toward determining a national champion.

I just got all fired up, but then I realized I had a dyslexic episode about where the 'L' was in the name of that competition.

Being a Husker and totally blinded with Red colored glasses, I'm trying to figure out how Missouri got more votes then the Huskers. Is it the population?

Go Big Red!

In my eyes, a lot of people never really saw Nebraska as a realistic candidate. Maybe it is just me, but I figured Nebraska was part of the foundation of the Big 8 and now the Big XII. I didn't see them going early, I would have expected them looking late.

Now that it has happened, I wonder why I never gave it much thought before. It seems to be a perfect fit for both parties. While it isn't a grand slam in the eyes of many, it is still a home run no less.

i think some were possibly frightened over mentions of nebraska demanding more partial qualifiers and such based on info from big12 friends.
Hmm, I wonder if that "info" came from Texas "big12 friends." :wink2: They're the ones into "demanding" things.

I was very impressed with the respect and honor with which this was accomplished - from both sides, Nebraska leadership AND Big Ten (and members) leadership. Really made me feel good about the move - and totally different from the way that the Big 12 operates under the Texas boot heel.

Once you've been taught the secret handshake you're a brother of sorts. Naturally, this is a bit of a "honeymoon" period. We'll hate you fuckers soon enough. But it will be for football reasons only.
