Because the C****-F**-A Bowl (Peach Bowl for those of us traditionalists) wanted Clemson because Clemson is right in their backyard - lotta Clemson grads in Atlanta and nearby places like Charlotte. The Gator Bowl, long before the selection process, declared they wouldn't be taking the ACC Championship loser because that game was already in Jacksonville. (Another reason why that game oughta be in Charlotte.) So BC fell to the C****s S****s Bowl. Meanwhile I dunno how Penn State went to the Alamo Bowl and not Orlando, but the bowl people in Orlando (who run both the C*****l O** and C****s S****s Bowls) didn't want Wisconsin because Wisconsin has been to Orlando the last two years in a row now.

because outside of the BCS the bowl games pick whoever they want and it has absolutely nothing to do with where teams ended up in the standings so long as they are bowl eligible.
