Best Player? Best Team?

Player- Eric Gordon or Tyler Hansbrough. I've seen Beasley play a few times, and while a superb player, he's a bit overrated. There's a reason that he committed to UNC-Charlotte and then Kansas State. Because he wants his teammates to be sidekicks and not compete as much for shots and rebounds so he can get the accolades. He's a fairly efficient scorer, but Hansbrough still averages .22 more points per shot. Hansbrough needs to share the basketball with Wayne Ellington, Ty Lawson, Danny Green, Deon Thompson, Marcus Ginyard, etc. Compete for rebounds with Thompson, Stepheson, Green, Ginyard, etc. At K-State it's Bill Walker and that's just about it. He wouldn't be putting up 24.6/12.6 at UNC. Hansbrough's 21.3/10.1 is more impressive. And he plays better overall defense than Beasley. Hansbrough is also a much better position defender because of his desire. Beasley is rather lazy on that side of the floor.

Team- Kansas....but UCLA will stand atop the mountain at the end of the postseason. They are a little mentally tougher and have experience deeper in tourney. They've been so close they could taste it a couple times, and now that the cat's (Florida) away, the mice will play.

Let me add a comment that Brian Butch qualifies as the most improved player I have seen this season.

A healthy Butch can lead Wisky right to the Final Four. They should get a good seed, as of right now now lower than a 4 and possibly all the way up to a 2. Whatever they get, they are one team that whoever is #1 in the region is going to be sweating.

Peace.

Not Kansas...

Michael Beasley...

I really like Memphis, as the best team right now, and I am not that big of a fan of if you lose to drop that team like I am doing with Kansas, and I know this was a the biggest game in the history of kst bball, but they were exposed down low getting pushed around...Also the guard play wasn't that good tonite for Kansas...

Not sure about Memphis as I hate the fact that they don't play a heavy talented schedule...We will see when they play against UT...

I feel like people want to annoint Beasley best player too easily. How quickly people forget about Bill Walker.

Not saying Bill Walker is better than Beasley, but he sure as hell opens his game up. What pick would Bill have been had he been able to enter the draft out of high school??

Most said no later than #2 many had him going #1. If not for a terrible knee injury his freshman year, Bill Walker is already a millionaire. The fact that he is now Beasley's sidekick shows how talented Kansas State is. The healthier Bill Walker gets, the closer Kansas St. gets to shocking the world beyond an upset of Kansas.

Just curious who you got...

Most of the best players have guys that open the game up for them...For example Hansbrough has Ellington, Green, Lawson, etc...Gordon is the one doing to most with the least IMO, but the competition for him hasn't been that tough...

I just think that Beasley is putting a team on the map that wasn't there before, going out and putting up big numbers, playing an all around game, inside, outside, etc...Yeah they have been up and down but they are coming along...He put himself as the front runner with his game tonight...

It's a completely valid point, most #1's have a good #2. It seems like every commentator in the country, and fans follow suit, think that Beasley is single-handedly carrying K-State to prominance. I say that because Bill Walker is never mentioned anywhere. K-State is a .500 team without Bill Walker. Bill Walker is special, and if he hadn't torn his knee up last year, he's every bit as good as Beasley. Don't forget the reviews Bill was getting coming out of the ABCD camp last year. Everyone was raving about his explosiveness around the rim, and how much better he was than his former teammate, OJ Mayo. Again, not trying to take anything away from Beasley, but Bill Walker needs more mentioning.

As far as players I like, I think I'll get ripped apart. I like players that excel in parts of their game that seperate themselves from other players at that same position. For example, I'm seeing a lot of people list DJ Augustine as their #1 player overall. I like DJ, especially at the collegiate level, but is he the best player in the country, or even PG in the country?? I'd much rather have Ty Lawson, especially in the NBA when it comes to speed/quickness. I don't think there is a faster player in college with the ball in their hands than Ty Lawson. Dj is clearly a better shooter though, so it's a matter of perspective. I'd rather have a penetrator who can get in th elane at will.

As far as overall game, I think Gerald Henderson needs to be up there. His minutes per game are lacking, but his ability on the court are amazing. This coming from a Duke hater. Gerald Henderson is one of the most underrated players in the country. Hands down. I don't know why he's left off of every mock draft list, unless it's just assumed he is staying. I'm not sure there is a more athletic player in the country with the inside, outside game he has.

As far as underrated freshman go, why isn't Patrick Patterson brought up more often? He plays on a mediocre team, so he's off the radar, but watch a Kentucky game and tell me he doesn't look like one of the best players in the country.

But again, I think Beasley is right up there as well. It just seems like Beasley is the "hot" name right now without recognizing the other talent on that team. I think Bill Walker is a too though.

If Bill Walker does indeed end up being a top 15 pick, and he is playing with a top 15 pick in Michael Beasley, why does K-State get no pub??? I expect they will, after their beat-down of Kansas, but it's embarrassing to me very few national pundits recognized the talent on the K-State squad at the beginning of the year.

Memphis has a better schedule than most people give them credit for... SOS is in the low 30's in the RPI. Sure, CUSA is pretty weak and they should go undefeated in conference but they've loaded up OOC by playing Oklahoma, USC, UConn (down but still beat B10 leader), Cincinnati, Georgetown, Arizona, and Gonzaga with their best chance of a loss in Tennessee yet to come (though Pomeroy projects Memphis to be UT by 12).

I do think the lack of competition from their conference could be a deterrent for them when they get into the tournament though.

I understand what you are saying...But the thing is they finish the season playing against those teams, while other teams are playing aginst their conference teams for the last 3 months of the season...
