Best Live Performances/Concerts (merged)

Traffic and the Richard Thompson Band (who opened the show).

It was one day removed from Steve Winwood's birthday - which made it mine.
Thompson did great warming up the crowd, a true talent on the 6-string. Friend of the crowd I attended with was part of the facility management team, so we got a little extra access, front-row seating and the like. The Traffic roadies were very generous with party favors and the band rocked all night playing over a 3 and a half hour set.

I'd say the best concert I ever went to was actually 3 days at Alpine Valley seeing the Grateful Dead in 1989. I also had a great time at the Allman Bros in .... 95 I think it was. I must admit, I'm not a Poison fan, but on a buddy of mine's urging, I went to Posion a few years back and was pleasantly surprised. Still not a fan, but I can respect em more now than before.

"The Dead" at Deer Creek in 03 was kick ass as well.... Hmmm... Yeah, I guess I'll stick with Alpine 89... Really, I can't say I've ever been to a bad concert. I suppose the Grateful Dead at Philly (also 89) kinda sucked.. but that was because Philly sucks and not because of the band.

Bruce Springsteen and the Seeger Sessions Band - Boston 2006
I've never been a huge Springsteen fan, but this concert blew me away. Twenty amazing musicians on stage covering just about every music genre you can think of -- rock, folk, jazz, zydeco, big band, etc.

Indigo Girls and Norah Jones - Columbus, Valentine's Day 2002
This is a favorite for more sentimental than musical reasons. It was me and my fiance's first Valentine's Day together, and we both love the Indigo Girls (one of the things that brought us together :)). Norah Jones opened for IG, just when she was becoming popular. She stole the show. That was a great night.
