Best Fan Bases (of programs other than Ohio State)

We have a thread on the Most Arrogant Fans. On a more positive note, which fans of other programs have been particularly impressive? Passionate, but classy; avid, but cordial. Nebraska fans seem to have a good reputation (although I don't really know too many). What has your experience been as you have travelled around to other schools/towns/states?

Without a doubt, I have more respect for the University of Texas than any other fan base out there. They travel really well, and most of them that I talk to seem to respect our team as well. Mack Brown is as classy as a coach as they get, and the players all seem to be good kids also. Texas is just a great all-around university, and I dont see how anyone cannot have respect for their program.

From personal experience... Minnesota is pretty good. Been up there a couple times and both times we tailgated with great fans and some parents of a few of the Minny players. 1 or 2 jerks but overall it was a pretty good time.

Down here Florida fans are pretty cool... out-class the Cryami and FSU fans by far.

If we are talking about real-life experience, than The King has to go with Penn State fans. The King has partied hard with PSU fans both home and away. Good times, especially in Happy Valley. That "Original Sin" drink at that one bar is no joke, despite what HAYN might say.

I gotta go with Texas fans.

Don't you have to have at least 500 posts or vast vCash riches around here to refer to yourself in the third person?

I always liked the Northwestern fans - especially in the days when the Student body would make up signs with self-deprecating humor about the state of their program.

Personally I know several fans of Pitt and Penn State and never had any poor interactions with them at all. Perhaps I am lucky, but the Penn State fans I talk to are always very well up on the true strengths and weaknesses of their team, coach, university. As for the Pitt fans - well they are long-suffering and but for the grace of God and the return of John Cooper there go us all.

Tennessee fans are loud and can be full of that Southern charm.

LSU fans IMHO are the craziest bunch of loons I have ever seen- but I kind of like having them around, every family should have one demented uncle.

The ND fans that I personally know are generous to a fault and very realistic about their team, coach and the like -and don't take a high and mighty tone about Ohio State. Which I personally appreciate, plus they almost to a man detest scUM -go figure?

This year it was my distinct pleasure to meet here some of the best Big 12 fans anyone would care for - in the party of Oklahoma State prior to and after the Alamo Bowl - and with the great group of football fanatics from the Lone Star State -- have we congratulated them sufficiently for their win last night?

Known a few Nebraska fans, one who works in Md who is emblematic of the passion those folks have for the game - they are presently in pain, regardless of their recent win over scUM.

LJB - Thanks for starting this thread. It is good to remind ourselves that there are indeed many fine people that share our passion for this game. Before you take issue with my choices remember that if you take folks as you find them, they'll find you to be much like yourself. Good reputations are hard to earn, and far easier to squander.
