best defense in the country

i searched for threads on this but couldnt find any

i know that they havent stepped on the field yet, but which team will have the best defense in the country?

heres some good guesses,

Ohio State(of course)
LSU
USC
Auburn
Virginia Tech
Alabama
Penn State
Florida St.
Texas
NC State

well I'm goin to break it into sections!

DL- I'd go with Texas but I'm going to reserve my comments until after 9/10. I mean you don't just give up 35 to Oky St. and to Michigan and claim to have a dominant line. I'm going to go with Nc St on this one they were DOMINATE last year and if not for their back 7 getting torched they would've had the best defense in the land.

LB- No doubt about it, OSU. we have 6 players that can step in and do wonders.

DB- Alabama with a slight edge over OSU/LSU/PSU. Alabama has two very very good corners and pretty good safties also.

I think overall honestly I would give the edge to OSU. With LSU and ALabama close behind. When I look at OSU their D-line is above average, the Linebackers are just spectacular and thier Dbs are very impressive as well. Where as with PSU they might have a weakness with their safties and up the middle on their line. WIth LSU if you get by their line then you can seriously do some damage. Also with Alabama thier back 7 are second to OSU's IMO but their D-line is a bit undersized and will need to step up a bit if they're going to win the SEC.

Some comments...

Replace NC State with Miami. Sure the Wolfpack's D-Line will be the best in the country...but their secondary is average and their linebackers are worse. Miami's D is strong everywhere and will be a big-play machine.

Also, replace Va. Tech with Tennessee...If the young Volunteer DB's live up to their potential, this defense could be devastating. Last year they started two freshmen back there and struggled. That defense is returning a TON of players and their D-Line is scary.

My opinion on the top 10 defenses:

1. Miami - See Alabama...with superstar big-play potential.
2. Alabama - Phenominal defense...no real hole.
3. Penn State - Solid to great everywhere.
4. Tennessee - Young secondary needs to live up to potential, could be a devastating unit.
5. Ohio State - Spectacular players all over the back seven...defensive line is very good (potentially great) and someone needs to step up opposite Youboty.
6. LSU - Solid to Above average everywhere
7. Auburn - Questions in the secondary (Who replaces Rogers?)
8. Texas - Their strength is in the trenches
9. USC - Average front 7...Great secondary
10. Florida State - Linebackers keep this group in the top 10

But this stuff is all subjective...

my bad, i completely forgot about miami, that redshirt freshman linebacker is susposed to be a beast, willie williams i think his name is?
i dont know that much about tennessee's defense, thats y i didnt put them in there
