Beowulf Animated movie

If I want to see a real viking movie I'll take "The Vikings" , "The Long Ships" or even
"Prince Valiant".

I have watched a couple of those too, Tao. It's not about the fact that it was "Beowulf", it's about the cutting edge animation. I REALLY like computer animation and I enjoy seeing how the technology develops.

I like that it ISN'T a "kiddy" animated movie, I think there should be more of that. "Sin City" was a good one too, with an excellent mix of CGI/animation and real people. A certain style can be achieved with the addition of CGI/animation technology that just isn't achievable with typical movie technology.

The second half of this movie deviates greatly from the classical story, and if one is willing to accept that, it returns a little bit to the source towards the end, and turns out to be a decent movie. The animation is annoying at first, but you get used to it pretty quickly.

Addition: Angelina Jolie still very hot covered in gold. Movie shows her quasi- naked, even if it is digital.

In the interviews about the movie before it came out the director mentioned that the screenplay did deviate, that he tried to include some hypothetical "reasons people did things they did" so I was expecting changes. But Neil Gaiman is a fantastic writer so I was also expecting the changes to work pretty well.

For anyone interested, the original tale is available in different translations here at the Gutenburg Project.

The trailer.

I'm making a guess here, but your comparison is based on the scene where the character screams "I am...BEOWULF!", am I right? Yes, that one part, which he repeats, does bear similarity to "This is...SPARTA!" but that is the only place where you will find a connection.

Considering how long it takes to make an animated film like this, it would be my guess that "Beowulf" was started long before "300." Just a guess however. Watch the movie, it's not a "300" ripoff.
