THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Like all NFL players, Cincinnati Bengals kicker Shayne Graham is used to taking verbal abuse in visiting stadiums. But he gets a charge out of the conflicting messages that come out of the mouths of some fans, thanks to the rise in popularity of fantasy football.

Levi Jones practices, is now questionable
Bengals notebook
BY MARK CURNUTTE | [email protected]
Bengals left tackle Levi Jones, who relishes his one-on-one battles with fellow 2002 first-round draft pick Dwight Freeney of the Colts, was upgraded Saturday to questionable and participated in the 11-on-11 drills in practice.
Jones has missed the past eight games after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. Andrew Whitworth, a rookie, has started eight games and has played increasingly well.
Also for the Bengals, right tackle Willie Anderson (foot) returned to practice and remained probable.

Damned shame. Just underscores how some players time in the the spotlight of the NFL can be fleeting.

This is possibly good news reported in the enquirer. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061217/SPT02/612170422/1066

POLLACK FOLLOW: Lewis on Saturday said he thought media coverage of the news of linebacker David Pollack's impending neck surgery was extreme and inaccurate.
Pollack, who suffered a fracture of the C6 vertebrae Sept. 17 against Cleveland, will have to undergo a fusion surgery.
"There is no indication that his football career is over," Lewis said. "(Surgery) will be a good opportunity for doctors to make the most accurate assessment of the repair that needs to be made, but surgery was imminent. There has not been a setback. Everything has been positive...............

Colts look to Bengals as hope for reversal
Indy uses Cincinnati?s 4-0 rebound as model

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

A month ago, the game against the Indianapolis Colts looked like it might be close to irrelevant for the Bengals. Cincinnati was 4-5. The Colts were 9-0. In a rugged AFC, the Bengals were on life support for the playoffs. Indianapolis seemed destined for home-field advantage.

Colts' passing game tears up Bengals

Tuesday, December 19, 2006

INDIANAPOLIS With the Bengals trailing by seven and facing fourth-and-1 at the Indianapolis 13 early in the third quarter last night, Marvin Lewis elected to kick a field goal. It was a statement of faith by the Bengals coach that his defense could stop the Colts and keep the game within reach for his normally potent offense.

BENGALS NOTEBOOK
Injury could stop Anderson?s run

Tuesday, December 19, 2006

INDIANAPOLIS ? Willie Anderson has been the one constant on the Cincinnati Bengals? offensive line all season, not to mention the previous 10. The right tackle started his 109 th consecutive game last night against the Indianapolis Colts, but that streak could be in jeopardy for next week, because Anderson left with a foot injury in the second quarter. The right tackle was replaced by Stacy Andrews.

It?s better to be on roll than possess best record
Tuesday, December 19, 2006

BOB HUNTER

INDIANAPOLIS ? Things in the NFL are not always as they appear. The Indianapolis Colts had already clinched their fourth consecutive AFC South Division title. The Cincinnati Bengals probably had to win two of their last three ? and it was a thorny three ? to get a wild-card spot.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The mantra in the Bengals? locker room late Monday night was to forget and move on. After being whipped 34-16 by the Indianapolis Colts in the RCA Dome, the Bengals have no choice. They have a short week to prepare for a game in Denver, and they still control their playoff destiny.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

CINCINNATI ? A player listed as probable on the Wednesday injury report usually doesn?t elicit major concern. But when that player is the newly honored Pro Bowl quarterback who hasn?t been on the injury report all season and doesn?t fully participate in practice for the first time in a must-win week, eyebrows are raised.

Bengals notebook
Palmer's 'ache' turns out to be play-action fake
BY MARK CURNUTTE | [email protected]
Carson Palmer had a good time with reporters and a TV camera crew watching the start of practice Thursday afternoon.
Palmer, who did not practice Wednesday because of a sore throwing shoulder, pulled his arm down in mock pain after lifting it to throw a pass.
Then he fired a spiral to backup quarterback Anthony Wright.

Bengals defense dropping the ball
Friday, December 22, 2006
Bill Rabinowitz
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

CINCINNATI ? A year ago, a game in Denver would have meant a triumphant return for Deltha O?Neal. In 2005, the cornerback had a career rebirth a year after the Broncos traded him to the Cincinnati Bengals. Cast off as a first-round bust by Denver coach Mike Shanahan, who forced him to try to play wide receiver, O?Neal made his first Pro Bowl in his second season with the Bengals. He shared the NFL lead in interceptions with 10 and was as close to a shutdown corner as the Bengals have had in years.

Palmer says there?s no injury to report
Friday, December 22, 2006

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

CINCINNATI ? Carson Palmer gripped the football, backpedaled and began his throwing motion.
At the apex of his delivery, the ball slipped out of his hand and he grabbed his right shoulder as if something had snapped. Don?t worry, Bengals fans. Palmer was merely pulling a gag. It was his way of making light of an Internet report that he might have sustained a significant shoulder injury.
