Bengals at Steelers(-1.5)

'89 - just pulling couple of things out of your excellent summary -
Joseph is a real star in the making. Reminds me of the way Jenkins plays for the Buckeyes, gets to the ball, makes the play. James is likely gone after this season.
The wind was a huge factor, all the points went with the wind.
Odell probably sees the field immediately, though in a rotation role. He is simply too good to keep off the field, hell if Henry is out there, how can you make an example of Odell?
One thing you did not mention - 2 single play drives. Taking full and complete advantage of the Steelers uncharacteristic errors.
Lastly, Housh was Huuge today, simply huge.

Our re-appearance of issues like pass protection and run support were more becasue of injuries than the scheme or team. We are dinged up right now after the Browns game and still won. I am just glad to escape with a W. I was nervous.

Well, I think that was part of it but I also blame Palmer a little bit for not recognizing things quickly enough. And I grudgingly give credit to the bad guys for playing their hearts out in the pass rush. As for not defending the run well, that was hard to explain. Even with Jeanty and Kevin K. in there, we should be able to do better than that. The main thing is that we stopped their run when we needed to stop it, forcing Ben to throw more than he wanted to in the 2nd half. And even though we didn't stop them from scoring after the INT in the 3rd quarter, I thought it was big that we forced them to go for it on 4th down. If nothing else, it took up time and that was important when we were trying to survive until we got the wind back on our side.

Couple of thoughts

1- Marvin didn't seem to trust Rudi on 3rd and short situations this game-kinda like Tress and Pittman yesterday. Why-I don't know.

2-I'll give the Pittsburgh D credit for the pass rush-Big Willie didn't have his best day. Palmer did not adjust quickly, having a hot route or anything like that. He also made some uncharacteristically dumb/bad throws today.

3-Another good day for the DE's. Contract years are a huge motivating force.

4-Getting Jackson and Thurman back will be huge for the D-they are missing their two biggest hitters. Madieu Williams is a future All Pro.

I think Joseph should start after the bye week. James would be a good nickel corner though in the next 1-2 years.

Tibor how was the game? I thought about you when KK intercepted that pass. I think he knew you were there. :tongue2:

Joseph does look very good. I would say put Tory at safety, but he isn't that strong a tackler.

. Finally, what did that guy do to get the "taunting" call?!

Gobucks,
that play occurred pretty close to where I was sitting and it was completely deserved.
Logan laid out the Bengal player (don't remember who) and stood over him and said a few words. That was good, but then he kept on yapping and the ref had no choice but to flag him. Even the Stiller fans around me were yelling at the player and not the ref.

heh heh...I was so excited about the INT I didn't even notice who is was. I then heard the PA guy say "Kaesviharn" and I went "Ugh, the Insiders are going to be all over me for this"

Could be worse, Ohehateme could still be out there. Did you catch the incident where TJ supposedly taunted their fans? Steeler nation is up in arms about it. I swear you have to shower every time you visit that site.

Gotcha. BTW, the player laid out was long-snapper Brad St. Louis.

You could hear it over the TV. He was yelling at him to "lie down bitch, lie down bitch". Real class.

The one thing that bothered me was Palmer's inability to throw the ball away when pressured.

It doesn't help when the Bengal's O-line looked like swiss cheese (also it doesn't help that Braham is out and Jones is hurt)... I always have had respect for the Blitzburgh's D and the several ways they try to get at the QB. Still I don't like seeing Palmer get hit that many times, way to earn that new contract $$$ Big Willy!
