I've never had so much fun watching the news here in Cincinnati!

One news anchor said, "If losing teaches you something, the Bengals may have got their PhD."

Seeing the fans they showed at the bars was like seeing scUM fans after the App State game - but they were wearing bandanas and orange Zubaz.

if Vickers catches that 2nd pass, cinci doesn't get a final drive.

My point is that by not catching it, they virtually gave Cincinnati a final timeout. A run up the middle for 0 yards or even -1 or -2 yards would have done no worse, and would have taken another 30+ seconds off the clock.

I'm assuming you are talking about the final scoring drive where they had first and goal in the 4th?

In that case, they ran 1st and 2nd downs, but attempted to throw 3rd down.

1st-10, CLE30 8:29 J. Lewis rushed to the left for 47 yard gain
1st-10, CIN23 7:55 D. Anderson passed to K. Winslow down the middle for 18 yard gain
1st-5, CIN5 7:18 J. Lewis rushed to the left for 4 yard gain
2nd-1, CIN1 6:35 J. Lewis rushed to the left for no gain
3rd-1, CIN1 5:52 D. Anderson incomplete pass to the right
4th-1, CIN1 5:44 P. Dawson kicked a 18-yard field goal

NFL - Cincinnati Bengals/Cleveland Browns Box Score Sunday September 16, 2007 - Yahoo! Sports

They should have thrown on 2nd down instead of 3rd, but that's just my opinion. Play action on 3rd down fooled no one.....

and I've never been happier to be wrong before either

I could have sworn that they threw on second and then ran on third. But you're probably right. (Afterall, I have zero links to support my memory.) I think that throwing on third down in that case is even worse. I agree with you - throw on second down... MAYBE. With first-and-goal at the five, I run it three times. Maybe even four times. Straight up the middle. Ok, maybe off to a side, to get in the middle of the field once or twice. Keep the clock running, or force Cincinnati to call a time-out that they were hoping to save for later. If an NFL team wants to win a game, I think that they need to show that they can score touchdowns when they have a first-and-goal from the five. And, in the Browns' case, they needed to keep the clock running.

Don't get me wrong - I'm happy with the outcome. I'm not at all UNhappy with it. I just think that the Browns almost blew it, and it would have been the coaches' fault. (Ok - maybe not 100% Romeo's. Put some on an offensive coordinator. But he's Head Coach - it all comes down to him.)

No, the PA pass was the perfect playcall for that situation. Cleveland's defense had done nothing all day. vickers catching that pass essentially ends the game without cleveland relying on a bodden miracle INT to keep cinci from scoring again. it's a play call that 9/10 of OC's would make given the state of their defense. you only argue it due to failed execution.

The Cincy Bengals

Every beaver has to get a nut and so does The Browns

-Sigh-

I think the Cincy Bengals better take a trip to the market and purchase a great big jumbo sized bag of nuts for opposing teams to find against them this year because......

.......dey are gonna be giving up shitload of points to alot of teams this season. The word I'm looking for here is EXPOSED. I'm not foolish enough to think that all of a sudden, overnight, the Browns offense turned into a dynamo but the only other obvious explanation is that the Cincy Bengal defense must really, really, really, really suck!

Who Dey?

I don't know Who Dey are but, I know Who Dey not.

Dey not, a playoff team!

Have a nice season! LOL!

Go Browns!

Go Buckeyes!

Props to IronBuckI and Piney, for the 2 winning bets, as opposed to 44 losing bets. Reps for you when I find a post of yours....GO BROWNS

No rep needed, just give me the VCash!!!! People just failed to realize that playing a road game after a physical Monday night game is a recipe for not playing well.

Plus you knew the Bungals are capable of screwing up anything. And that is why the Bengals will always be the Bungles.

Congrats to the Browns fans, it's like your superbowl.

Funniest sign I saw, said chad johnson, all bling no ring.......you know because browns fans have so many rings to brag about.

As for this quote, look the Bengals defense is not going to be good this year, no one really said they would be, but they are also not as bad as they were yesterday. Take how good they looked against the Ravens, and how bad they looked yesterday and the true defense is somewhere in between.

So go ahead browns fans brag all you want, you deserve it, but come back and tell me what it feels like when you team doesn't make the playoffs, since the Bengals will be playing in January this year.
