RB07OSU;1527308; said:The defense looks pretty tough this year, I am excited. I think the DL can stop the run and get consistent pressure, while the LB corp is very talented. Other than Crocker, I think the secondary is pretty stout as well...I really think the Bengals have a chance to compete this year.

Bengals nickel back David Jones (foot surgery) is out for Week 1 and still has no timetable for return.
Next up in the nickel is late-round rookie Morgan Trent, who wasn't even any good at Michigan. The Bengals will struggle to cover slot receivers early in the season. They get Brandon Stokley and James Jones in the first two games. Sep. 6 - 1:24 pm et
During the early part of training camp, it was questions about the right elbow. For the last three weeks, it's been about the left ankle. When it comes to injuries, it's become old hat for Carson Palmer.
On Wednesday, Palmer declared the ankle 100 percent and said he is practicing at full speed this week as the Bengals prepare to face the Broncos in the regular-season opener at Paul Brown Stadium.
"I kind of expect them every week, at least for the first month of the season," Palmer said. "Going back to '06 when I blew my knee out, I got those questions until about week 8, 9, 10. So I'm used to being in this situation and kind of fielding all sorts of questions."
The biggest question now is whether Palmer can knock all the rust off this week and be effective against the Broncos. According to the seven-year veteran, the short period of inactivity should not be a problem by the end of the week.
"We don't do walkthroughs very much around here. Every practice, we're in shoulder pads or full gear and we're going at it," Palmer said. "Obviously the quarterback isn't live, but we practice full-speed. And being my sixth year starting in this league, going through all of training camp for the most part, until we got to the second game, I had that feeling then. It'll take a couple snaps to get the rust off, but it won't take much."
Palmer did say a throw count exists during practice. Coaches don't want him throwing more than 120 balls during the two-hour sessions; the average is usually around 80.
INJURY REPORT: Wednesday marked the official period when coaches could not hide injuries anymore.
The first injury report was released and showed that CB David Jones (foot) and OT Andre Smith (foot) are out. OG Scott Kooistra (knee) and SS Roy Williams (thigh) took part in limited practice.
For Denver, S Josh Barrett (shoulder) and DL Kevin Smith (knee) did not participate in practice. WR Jabar Gaffney (finger), OG Chris Kuper (ankle) and RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) had limited participation.
