Mauk is apparently transferring after he graduates from wake this coming year because he wants to supposedly go to a a school that offers further graduate schooling for his major. my question is can he still transfer and play DIA football since he is a junior and probably medical redshirted this year? he is obviously not coming to ohio state but if he plays football somewhere else they are getting an amazing QB if he becomes 100%. anybody who watched ben mauk play in HS will tell you how special of a talent he is and yes i know college and HS are 2 different animals but mauk is a different animal in himself.

We were the only school to beat him 3 out of 4 years...

Unless Coldwater did, Cavball might be able to help me out there...

The NCAA changed the transfer rule for graduate students in early January. Mauk would be treated as any other transfer student. An OK ST qb is asking the NCAA to waive the rule in his case on the grounds that he could have and would have graduated in December had he known the rule was going to be changed. Link to the OK ST situation.

UC tops QB Mauk's list of schools
He's leaving Wake Forest
BY BILL KOCH | [email protected]
Quarterback Ben Mauk, who announced Thursday that he would not return to Wake Forest next season, appears to be headed to the University of Cincinnati, where he could step in immediately next season as the Bearcats' starting quarterback.
Mauk will complete his degree in education at Wake this spring, then enroll at another school to pursue a Master's degree in education administration.

well if he is actually allowed to play at cincy and goes there then ill throw money down already that he starts next year especially with kelly as the new coach. the UC fans would be thrilled i bet and he could really help turn that program around the corner and bring them up towards the top of the big east.

Is UC's QB from this year graduated...

Can't remember the name, but I was thinking that he was only a sophmore and I was rather impressed with him the couple times I watched him this year...

davila or somethin like that? yea i think he is going to be a junior next year. good player and all but he hasnt done much of anything outstanding for them.

Davila came in the last game or two for them and was a stud. Cincy would have won a few more games with that boy under center.

Yeah, and unfortunately for them, Davila is the one who was actually the senior (he was a JUCO I believe). Grutza will be back, but Davila definitely should have gotten an earlier look the way he played at the end of the year.

DaVilla was the JUCCO who turned down Cal and other PAC-10 schools to come to UC. Dantonio, in my opinion, did the kid wrong...especially when you watched how terrible Grutza is and how weak his arm strength is...it is no coincidence that UC's two biggest wins last season (Rutgers and the bowl victory) came with Davilla at QB.

Mauk has already graduated from Wake Forest and the NCAA repeal of that transfer rule does not take effect until the summer...so, Mauck can transfer and still play for UC in the fall...AND he's applying for an extra year of medical hardship since he was injured in the first game last year. I wish him well and look forward to seeing him as a Bearcat.

Mauk has big plans for UC
Grad student to vie for Bearcats QB job

BY BILL KOCH | [email protected]

Ben Mauk needs only to finish his student teaching to earn his degree in education from Wake Forest, but the former Kenton (Ohio) High School quarterback still feels as if he has unfinished business on the football field.
Mauk plans to finish that business at the University of Cincinnati, where he has been accepted academically and will begin graduate classes May 21.
He'll be eligible to play for the Bearcats this season and will compete with incumbent starter Dustin Grutza for the starting quarterback job.

im fairly confident mauk will get the starting job. although i think he is kinda exaggerating how well he will be able to do at cinci. with credit to UC they have a lot of great ohio talent but they cant seem to put it together but with a new coach and new QB......who knows? if they manage to go undefeated next year then maybe they can earn enough respect to make it to a national championship.
