This isn't about taste, it's about Americana. I love imports and microbrews but if your working outside all day with a couple of guys on a hot ass day and you drink anything but Bud your a fag I'm sorry :)

Ummmm...you realize you're referring to a day on which you're working with a couple of guys as a 'hot ass day', right?

I reserve such a descriptor for good days at the beach.

Very dissapointing that they let greed win, but thats typical.
Personally, I never liked budweiser to begin with, so I guess I will just ban myself from drinking it ever again*

*unless for free, and there are no other options

About Americana? That is debatable. Has Budweiser really made a contribution like say; Norman Rockwell?
Budweiser as an icon?
Sure it's Americana. When you ask the average Joe on the street what beer he relates to America, a large majority will say Budweiser. The Clydesdales, the frogs, the penguins, their advertising gimmicks as a whole, the label, the slogan...all very much a part of Americana.

I'm not a Bud man, when I drink a domestic beer, it's usually Miller Light, but it's the #1 beer in America and heavily exported for a reason. I've been around the world, and it's never hard to find a Budweiser in a foreign bar.

The Czechs have their own Budweiser which has an interesting history that is tangentially related to American Budweiser. It will be interesting to see whether this European switch leads to any further competition between the brands.

Bud?jovický Budvar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Czech kind is pretty popular among my German friends, who always ask if someone wants a Budweiser, then when they receive confusing looks clarify "no, the Czech one, not the American one."
Tried it when I was in Europe...horrible, just horrible.

I doubt they are going to change anything, Lagers are pretty cheap to make, and Bud is basically a cash cow.
Bingo.

Bingo.

1-miller is no longer a "domestic beer" but hey chrysler wasnt a domestic car for a while....
2-you can find "the american" budweiser around the world. its consider a trendy beer in many euro cities...
3-if you think of most beers, they are no longer american... very few are. go back and look at that link

on the formula some say it may get watered down a tad again. nothing big. but im not sure i see the reality here, i see very little price savings with this move. but that aside like all moves this will be interesting. i say it doesnt last...

There is no value to be unlocked by cutting corners with the beer recipie. The savings are all corporate and involve gaining efficiencies in the logistics and management of the combined company as well as other basic merger value creation related to economies of scale and increased market presence.
