I definitely think we should play Cincinnati every year. Louisville and Kentucky did NOT play each other for years, and the fans lost out. Now, they go at it every year.
I'm not a fan of an annual game vs. any team, but I would like to see a semi-annual Ohio tournament. It would be great to be able to claim your team is the champion of the state. The natural teams to include would be OSU, UC, UD, X. MAC teams could be added to setup a eight team tourney. Ideally it would be played at a "neutral" arena so any wins would receive full value in the RPI ratings. This could rotate through Columbus, Cinci, Cleveland and any other large arenas that aren't the home arenas of any of the participating teams.
If I'm not mistaken, UK and Louisville play each other for the same reason we now schedule Miami, OU, BGSU and Kent State in football: because the state legislature ordered it.
The difference being that it's much easier for the smaller school from the lesser conference to upset the bigger school from the big name conference in basketball than it is in football. IMO, at best, OSU would be about 500 versus UC basketball during the Huggins' years.
