Opening over/under is around 74 points.

Auburn is a 2.5 to 3 point favorite on the opening line.

I'll let the lines settle for a week or so before I update this thread's vBet numbers.

Both teams will score a lot, but Auburn has more going for its defense. And by more, they have a defensive line that might cause Oregon some trouble once or twice, which should be enough..

I have no interest in this game.

It's going to be like the Illinois/Michigan game. Only with more talent. It's going to be fucking boring.

The good news: Oregon has a significant hidden advantage in special teams. We all saw this up close and personal against Ohio State last year, Oregon is a threat to score everytime they receive a kick, and Auburn's kick coverage isn't very good.

The bad news: Auburn will probably be kicking off a whole bunch.

I've gotta give the edge to Auburn's D Line in this one. They're too disruptive. In a game which might see 70 or 80 points, Oregon will score, but it won't be at the pace Auburn sets.

I like this point quite a bit. Auburn's going to be able to generate a push up front with just the front four or perhaps blitzing one player.

This should leave their LB's free to cover the sweeps and spy Thomas on any sneak plays.

I really like Oregon's LB Matthews - athletic and has a great motor, I just feel like he'll be chasing people from behind quite a bit.

I watched the BCS breakdown show last night. Every pundit who liked Auburn listed a specific matchup or an area they might be able to exploit. Herbie was the only one who favored the Ducks and it was because "they've been there before" and "they heard all year how the couldn't play with the big boys." I'm sorry - I just need to hear more than that.

Now watch OU come out and win by 13 :rofl:

I think Oregons special teams could be the difference. Auburns defense is nothing to write home to mom about.

Oregons return game could be huge.

I hope the cheaters lose...Ducks in a close one.

I've got Oregon in this game. I think the Duck D backs can cover Auburn 1 on 1. Safeties coming to help on Newton all game and hope he makes a mistake. Regardless, the lights are going to burn out on this scoreboard.

Oregon can gas the Auburn Dline and the secondary of the Tigers is more than suspect. The biggest difference is this:

The way to beat Oregon is to sustain drives but they have to end in points every time, preferably touchdowns. Auburn can do that. All season teams have been able to drive on Oregon but not finish. You can keep their offense off of the field, but if you dont pressure them with points, it doesnt matter. Eventually they will bust one or two on you big.

Cam Newton can get the tough yardage as well as the big yardage which I think makes a huge difference. Still, in the end I think Oregon hits on a couple more big plays than Auburn and pull out the high scoring game.

Does anyone know much about the depth of Auburn's D-Line?

Last year when we played Oregon, they actually moved the ball pretty well against us, but of course in the end we held them to a very low score compared to their average. But that wasn't because we had 4 great D-Linemen. It was because we had closer to 8... Oregon will get you tired, and we had the absolute perfect response, which was a ton of depth at the D-Line.

Anyway, I hear a lot about how Auburn has a good D-Line, but I haven't heard how deep it is. IMO if it's like ours this year (strong 4, weaker when you're talking about your 6th-8th guys) then Oregon will be very effective especially late in the game... And I would maybe favor Oregon. To beat them you have to stop their offense late in the game, and if Auburn can't do that...

In the SEC championship game, they were rotating 6 players. Basically having a a sub DT and sub DE and then running them in and out as needed.

Little tougher to do that against Oregon since everything is in "hurry up" mode.

Auburn's offense will need to maintain some drives to give them a breather.

I'm really torn on this title game.


On one hand, an Auburn win CRUSHES the credability of any past SEC BCS national titles or any future BCS national titles.

On the other hand, Fuck Oregon and the manufactured greatness they road in on.


Might be one of those nights where I just throw in a DVD of "The West Wing" and relax. I'm going to end up unhappy no matter what happens.
