Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (free on XBL this week)

Riding along in the tank firing out the side only was fun... and would be even better with teammates on headsets (that aren't up past their junior high bed time).

I'm down for some MP this weekend. I join squads during the game, but never do anything with my squad mates. Having people in squad with you that you can communicate and they are trying to do the same thing makes it so much better.

I enjoy the speed of the game... it has an arcade-ish fun feel to it. You don't get smoked everywhere you turn like MW2 (by glitches or airstrikes or other garbage). It's easier to run off, bomb around and still have a fighting chance.

I think I'll get tired of it in a few days, but it's an excellent game.

 I caught that one too.

The MP is a lot more balanced than MW2 and a lot less garbage. I wish they didn't have the UAVs, but they aren't that dominant.

What would make the game more fun are some free for all maps where everyone has choppers. I'm assuming the PC side has those kind of mods or will have them eventually.

Damn those choppers are hard to fly! Why do the tanks and choppers have to have red HUD's? You can hardly see shit.
I think green is american, red is russian.

Did you enjoy me giving you advice on how to fly and then flipping the thing when I tried? The main problem is the camera angles sometimes get a little harsh, making it harder to recover. Keep trying, you'll get the hang of it, I picked it up on my 2nd or 3rd flight. That russian coast mission is a lot of fun.

Back when I played BF 1942, a joystick was a must for flying a helicopter.

Damn those fucking choppers! You can't take those bastards down for shit. I've found one gun that can do some damage, but it's so little.

Those choppers aren't so bad when you are the one flying around in circles and raining bullets on people are they Jwins? I think we destroyed the other chopper 4 times in a row as well. We need to get some more people off here to squad up with us as well.

Servers are pretty bad. It's happened nationwide on multiple days within a week. Kicking users out or not letting them in for hours at a time.

Too bad, because this game is superior to MW2 imo, particularly for the lesser participants who don't have tons of perks & unbalanced aerial assaults at their disposal. The perks do make the game easier, but you can still compete well enough with the starter kits.

Hit the back/select button to target opponents for your squad, which can lead to 'spot assist' bonuses. That's what creates those orange triangles. Thanks to CentralMO for the heads up on that.

I posted this a page back, but here it is again. This is somewhat funny video, but there are tons of good points for people who are new to this game. Another thing to do is spam supply/medical crates. If I'm running to a base and see a sniper and I have the kit that has the ammo crate I'll drop one down for him. This game rewards people for doing the little things(healing, spotting, capturing bases, repairing, etc.), so it's easy to get points even if you are having trouble killing people. If you can get in a squad with friends it's best to stick with them(two eyes are better than one).

so, if I go and buy this game I think it would be much funner to have a group of players that work together well in multi player.... anyone here interested in setting something like that up? I know it's difficult with everyones varying schedules, but even if two or three people were on at a time and could be counted on to work as a team I would be much more willing to purchase this game

thoughts?

My rental plan expires today, so I won't be on for awhile. GomerBucks & TheStatician are on fairly often.

I'm going to install it to the hard drive, then keep an eye out for 'scratched disc' auctions on ebay. You can find them for about $5, and usually the system will recognize the disc in the drive (well enough to load the hard drive install) even if it has dirty disc errors.

Just looked at the stat page for the first time. One user has logged 114 hours in under 8 days. That's 14+ per day!
You better hurry up and find a scratched copy.
I'm guessing it will be a few weeks before one surfaces.
